I can't believe I missed this, I'm glad he's adding another track, 8 just seemed like too little. That first song that he showed in the garageband demo video sounded great so I'm still hoping that'll be recorded.

I'd like it, but I dunno if I want to spoil it... Not sure if I want to hear it or not...

It's back up, a little bit longer, tracks balanced out a bit better.
Updated lyrics: It feels like time to let it go It feels like time to break or show It feels like time to cut your brakes Shut your mouth for something, anything, oh It feels like time to fuck or leave Baby, it feels like I choke you just to breathe It feels like time and time at all (?) Just black out, wake up for it, wander home This post has been edited by AnOceanPearl: Jul 25 2008, 12:54 PM -------------------- |

It sounds like there's a bit more coming after the fade.

While it might not sound like it, this one’s a tricky fucker. Despite the seemingly rudimentary presentation of the bass and drums, there are actually three counter melodies happening in the verse, which is what makes the vocal melody seem odd at first, and also makes it very difficult to ad lifts as the verse advances (without it turning into a complete mess). I distorted the piano line and I like it better now being that it’s one of the primary progressions but cycles in a much shorter bar structure than those melodies countering it. But let me tell you, simple guitar, drums, and bass is far easier to work with than this shit. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I just can’t get it out my head. I had been recording a simple acoustic song, but this fits better with the record in my opinion.
Speaking of acoustic songs, one thing I really would like to do is release an online only acoustic EP on new material and a few ones that have never been recorded so that when I do tour acoustically that there is new material there. For the most part, the record that I have written is near impossible to play on an acoustic guitar without it sounding entirely empty. Also an update regarding the live recording. It’s being poked and prodded by Zach across the street at the Warehouse as we speak. To be honest, I’m just too terrified to even go over there and listen. It may even come out with me having never heard it. Oh, and lyrics, you’re close… It feels like time to let it go It feels like time to break or show It feels like time to cut your brakes Shut your mouth, do something, anything It feels like time to fuck or leave Baby it feels like I choke you just to breathe It feels like time ain’t time at all Just black out, wake up foreign, wander home Demos are always hard when it comes to weeding out words. You end up compressing a lot of things on a computer and after a while they just cancel each other out – which makes vocals all the harder because getting them on top can get tough. Perhaps that’s why Thom Yorke mumbles a lot now rather than using probably the best set of pipes on the planet. Much easier to deal with. I mention that only because a friend of mine and I were talking about In Rainbows the other day and I tricked him and put on ‘Ascension Day’ by Talk Talk and he thought it was an unrealsed track from the record until Mark Hollis started to sing. Not bad being that that record’s 18 years old now. |

I'm thinking he's fading it out to tease us- right before the fade it goes into a quick bassline which to me says there's more coming for it.

It's a much better version than the original one. It is much more balanced out, the vocals are better, and we hear more...and I'm positive there's more to come with that song after the fade.

No doubt there is more to the song after the fade... this version is definitly much better as we see there is more dimensions to this song.
As for the live cd... as far as I know, we don't know any more about it than we did after the Toronto show. The show was recorded, but no real word on if/how it will be released. Although, I don't read every single blog entry, so maybe I missed something. Oh, and for the people that will end up missing this, again just pm me and I will send you a link to it This post has been edited by Curtster: Jul 25 2008, 03:03 PM |

i like this version, it really grew on me before this too, the song doesn't seem like a weak link anymore.
I would have to agree that a standard acoustic track probably wouldn't fit as these are all really big, experimental and don't stay the same throughout the song. |
