The book after JK’s 7th HP

Some thoughts on the possible protagonists.

1. James Potter’s story. How he met Lily, tormented Snape, the origins of the Marauders map, etc, leading to their death.

2. Snape’s story? If he’s truly evil we’d learn how he got to that point. The whole HBP thing perhaps.

3. Tom Riddle’s life since we heard so much about Voldemorte in the Halfblood Prince.

4. The origins of the magiking community.

I personally think #1 is the most likely to be written after she ends the Harry Potter series. #4 might be a short story or one of her mini books.

Does anyone remember the monster book and the quidditch guide? I have to find where I put my copies.

NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK DESTROYS PRECIOUS RAINFOREST
652-Page Tome Ignites Ecological Catastrophe, Sierra Club Warns

The latest installment in the best-selling Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince,” has destroyed one of the most precious rainforests in the world, all of whose trees were felled to create the paper for the 652-page book.

Even as librarians and educators praised the latest “Potter” book for stirring children’s enthusiasm about reading, ecologists howled in protest over the book’s destruction of the Dihing-Patkai rainforest in Tinsukia, India.

Clear-cutting of the Dihing-Patkai rainforest began last fall to prepare for the publication of the much-anticipated “Potter” tome, virtually eliminating the natural habitat for such bird species as the Great Hornbill and the Lesser Beautiful Nuthatch.

“I suppose we are supposed to be overjoyed that J.K. Rowling has brought forth yet another delightful installment of the Harry Potter saga,” said Cassandra Spivak of the ecological group the Sierra Club. “Tell that to the Lesser Beautiful Nuthatch.”

Ms. Spivak, who claimed that “The Half-Blood Prince” may have irrevocably increased the threat of global warming, also criticized the 652-page length of the book, saying that much of author Rowling’s verbiage was unnecessary: “The word ‘Quidditch’ alone appears over nine thousand times.”

While bemoaning the destruction of the Dihing-Patkai rainforest, Ms. Spivak said that the Sierra Club was “pulling out all the stops” to keep similar ecological atrocities from occurring in the future: “We are doing everything in our power to keep Bill Clinton from writing another book.”

Elsewhere, the author of the Karl Rove biography “Bush’s Brain” said he is at work on a sequel entitled “Bush’s Brain is Leaking.”

My personal favourite…

MAN COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER LEARNING HARRY POTTER SPOILER
‘I No Longer Have a Reason to Live,’ Says Despondent Potter Fan

A rabid Harry Potter fan took his life yesterday after inadvertently learning a plot spoiler from the soon-to-be-released J.K. Rowling opus, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

Jude Ralston, 32, of Hudson, Ohio left a suicide note indicating that since overhearing the plot spoiler at a shopping mall earlier in the day, “I no longer have a reason to live.”

Family and friends who gathered for a candlelight memorial outside Mr. Ralston’s house remembered a man who seemed to live only for Harry Potter – and wondered if they could have done anything to prevent his tragic fate.

“When Jude got that vanity license plate that said ‘Hogwarts,’ that seemed harmless enough,” said Polly Clovis, who attended Model U.N. with Mr. Ralston while the two were in high school. “But when he started wearing that wizard hat around town, we really should have seen that as a cry for help.”

According to friends of Mr. Ralston, the Potter fanatic had done everything in his power to protect himself from stumbling across Potter plot spoilers, even disconnecting his computer from the Internet and avoiding his favorite vintage comic book store.

Ms. Clovis said that she hoped Mr. Ralston’s death would cause federal authorities to tighten the flow of Harry Potter plot information to prevent similar tragedies from taking place.

“In my heart I believe that could have saved Jude’s life, even if he didn’t have one,” she said.

Elsewhere, President Bush called the jailing of a New York Times reporter “a positive step,” but warned that many other reporters were still at large.
