  2. Interesting. Kinda surprised by his good-but-not-great sentiments toward Lights of Endangered Species. I know this sort of stuff is all subjective, but it's like splitting hairs for me between that album, Hospital Music, and Avalanche (toss in Beautiful Midnight if we're including MGB)... though when push comes to shove, I might have to concur with HM standing above the rest (though only by mere millimeters, imo): it might not reach the peaks of Avalanche or become as adventurous and daring as LoES, but, to my ears, it's his most complete record.

    MGB Footage

It's wonderful that decades can go by and it's still possible to unearth a treasure like this. The amount of effort to obtain this from the Lloyd family and digitize it is no small feat and a gigantic thank you to everyone involved. This is a gem for all of us, and as MG said in the "Sharks of Downtown" video, he created classic rock of the future and here we are.
  5. This is amazing, thank you.
  6. That goes double for me. That live version of She's Got a New Disguise was absolutely amazing. I hope Matt and the band play that song live in future. Geoff's live guitar playing sounded great. I've never heard it so clear before. Matt sure looked young with so many different hairstyles. I enjoyed watching the videos. They were very interesting.

  8. Wow this is amazing stuff. Loving it all. Thanks guys for doing all this. Never would have thought I would have seen all this.
  9. I have been waiting since 2001, ever since I saw a clip of it on the MMM Bio, to hear Sharks and this interview. The other stuff looks f***ing great too. Something from the The Town Pump? Seriously?! Sweeeeeeeet sweetness!!! Hahahahaha!!! I'm downloading all of it as I type this and am as giddy as a school girl right now Honestly haven't been this excited for something in a loooong time Thank you so much, all of you- Chad, Adam, and Sue. This means mountains to me. Edit- My brain just exploded. I can not believe I just watched a live performance of Native Son. F***CKING NATIVE.SON! I honestly don't think I can process that. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Seeing the entire band that young is something else. I never thought I'd get to see a live video performance of a song from that album. That was indescribably glorious. Sharks was bloody awesome too. Very reminiscent of his Pre-MGB songs (especially the lyrical performance). I don't know why they decided to play that that day too but I'm so glad they did!
  10. Came across this piece by Mac Cameron recently, I know you guys'd appreciate it. A thoughtfully articulated commentary on many (most) of my favourite musicians can be elusive, this is good reflection from a true fan. https://dominionated.ca/features/loser-anthems-matthew-good/
  11. I agree they're very similar. When Mark Hollis passed away in February I finally took the time to listen to some Talk Talk. Both of these songs sound musically and vocally inspired by 'New Grass' from Talk Talk's '91 record Laughing Stock. I think there's little chance they aren't, given the similarities. They're all beautiful pieces in their own right, easily top third of Matt's catalogue in my opinion.
  12. And the videos are now live on my site http://mattgood.plastic-soldier.com/downloads-video.php The first 5 videos on the page are the newly added ones, with the awesomeness of the first video being the entire performance of Sharks Of Downtown! I did create an MP3 of the song from the video. linked on the main page (http://mattgood.plastic-soldier.com/) as well as on the audio downloads page
  13. Yeah the sneak peaks are sounding real good so far. I really like this one: I liked that the sound for the Something Like A Storm album showcased yet another different sound for Matt but this is more my speed.
  14. Thanks again for the heads up, Adam. Really looking forwards to it Aside from material of the early days of the band being so rare, to my knowledge the only video that exists of Geoff performing with them is the Mike Bullard performance of Indestructible, and that is a shame given what he brought to the table. He was such a unique, skilled, inventive, soulful and talented bass player.
  15. Sounds amazing! Thank you for your efforts!!!
  16. Last year i mentioned some footage i was hoping to obtain that would contain some pretty rare video of the Matthew Good Band. Well after many months of waiting i was finally able to get that material, transfer it and with Chad's help we have got it uploaded and it will be shared through his site tomorrow. Unfortunately the amount of material was less than originally thought thanks to tapes being lent and never returned however the material that was still there although brief is still pretty incredible and goes right back to the start of the Matthew Good Band. For most here theyve probably never seen any of this. And those that have its probably been well over twenty years since they did. Im Very excited to have been able to find this stuff and get it transfered and very grateful for Chad offering his web site to host this material so that Matt Good fans can see it. I recently asked Matt if he would consider a chronological live album or footage release and while i wont go into specifics of his reasoning here, he was pretty emphatic that he would not. So for the time being these kinds of attic discoveries are our only way to find material such as this. So if you know anyone who might have taped shows on MUCH or videoed concerts they went to, reach out and ask if they happened to record any Matthew Good. You never know what might be turned up. Finally these tapes are being released as a tribute to MGB bass player Geoff Lloyd. Most of this material stems from Geoffs time in the band and is some of the only live footage we have from Geoffs era. It really showcases what he brought to the group and his contributions to some incredible music. Im very proud to be a part of the group putting this stuff out there because hopefully it will help people to remember Geoff and the band during his tenure.
  17. I really do love this guy. Such an under appreciated artist.

  20. Any chance this user is still kicking around on the board here, but just as a different user? I know their profile says they last visited back in 2005 so I know it's a long shot, but I'm looking to try and find rare MGB stuff that hasn't found its way onto Youtube yet so I can get it up there.
  21. It seems to be that the ending of that episode was very anticlimactic and made much of the character buildup relating to John Snow and Danny, pointless. I makes so sense to me to have all of the character building (ice & fire) over the past 8 years for it to end that way. Arya was about revenge for her family against the conspiracy started by Littlefinger, her story did not involve the Night King. Thats how I see it.
  22. This is...really epic, exciting, and organic sounding https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw8p_t-g_v2/ Hopefully it leads somewhere big. Though Something Like a Storm sounded like it was going somewhere massive too and then just faded out, so hopefully this one is a little different in that sense. I doubt Matt would share the climax of a song before it was finished.
  23. Agreed, seems like the material was already written. Not even sure how much James Iha really even played on it, nothing real distinctive that screams him. Hopefully the followup material will be more collaborative. Lots of touring together happened since this last one was made.
  24. What did you think? SPOILERS AHEAD For my part, I'll admit I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and that I was cheering when Arya was able to drop the Night King. Likewise, I thought they handled the 4 deaths quite well, especially Theon's. To see him not make the wrong choice this time when his back was against the wall was a good finale for him and it even seemed like the NK gave him some low key respect when he bothered to look down at him on the ground. However, in retrospect, there were things I wasn't a fan of either: -The lighting for episode was terrible (though admittedly perhaps on purpose to try and give the audience an idea of what it was like for those there). -It felt like, given the number of wrights, more main characters should have died. Don't get me wrong, four long time characters going out (two of them being main characters), isn't nothing, but it just felt unrealistic for so many other main characters to come out of that alive given the numbers they were swarmed by (much like in episode 6 of last season). -As tension filled as it was, it feels like the death of the Night King was almost....too soon. While we know "what" he was trying to do (at least according to Bran/The 3 Eyed Raven), we still don't know "why" he was doing it. What motivated him? Perhaps we'll still find out in these last few episodes, but it's possible we won't. Lastly- and this is just a random thought- there is something very off about Bran. It feels like there is more going on with him than we know and while that may seem obvious to some, I feel like there is more going on with him in a bad way. I can't explain it but after the end of this episode...I feel like there is going to be a reveal that Bran/the 3 Eyed Raven is not what we all thought.
  25. Interesting, I really like Double Life, but Song For a Girl is song for the trashcan, I hate that song! Not just because I'm a dude, it's just a bad song.
  26. When I read the books, her chapters were my faviourite. I was always hoping the next chapter would be her!
  27. I've got "and I've a grenade with our names scratched on the side, but that's just love" on my forearm (from The Rat Who Would Be King)

My sister-in-law Jessica Allossery (who is a musician) put together a tribute video for my son, featuring her new single "Happy Place" at the 10:38 mark.
