  1. Ah, so Bridgeburner IS related to Dave Genn. I did notice all the MGB songs on Old Fighters had a Bridgeburner Music copyright line. I suspected this had something to do with Dave Genn, but I didn't immediatey find anything that linked Genn to Bridgeburner. I also assumed "Bridgeburner" might have just been linked to the record deal MGB had, since it appears on all the MGB tracks in this collection (only Underdogs and Beautiful Midnight tracks). Anyhow, it is interesting the liner notes don't actually say, "Written by Genn/Priske/Browne". After all, it does state "All songs written by Matthew Good except where noted". The layperson doesn't see any notes about other writing credits anywhere. I wonder if it actually was a mistake to not include traditional "Written by" statements. I have never seen writing credits done solely with copyright information.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I was actually ripping the disc to my computer and entering the appropriate info into the "composer" fields and noticed the info was different from my rips of "Underdogs"/"Beautiful Midnight". It's strange to have the same songs from two different albums and have the "composer" fields vary between them. Anyhow, the original album recording of "Giant" is on Old Fighters and does not have a "Dave Genn" credit there. That is odd since I thought he had quite an influence on the guitars on that track (which is confirmed by what you've stated). I figured his contribution to that track was one reason the lead guitar and solo were played differently during Matt's live shows in recent years.
  3. Looking at the liner notes, it says "All songs written by Matthew Good except where noted". However, I noticed Ian Browne and Richard Priske listed in the copyright section of Load Me Up (live), but no Dave Genn. Nor is Genn credited for any of the other MGB tracks that were typically credited to Good/Genn. Anyone know why this is?
  4. If I had to present the songs to someone who wasn't familiar with Matthew Good, I would give them Fearless first. It's less cheesy and a stronger tune in my opinion. However, I personally enjoy Symbolistic White Walls more, which is just a fun rocker.
  5. I don't understand your argument. If Anton doesn't want something discussed, then he's bound to either delete it or ban the person who is making that discussion. Are you saying that that's not basically prohibiting someone from talking about certain topics? what's not to understand? this is anton's board, and he makes the rules. not you. he's been pretty nice about the whole subject, and i think that asking you to have enough respect for him, and for matt, and not talk about shit that is nothing but speculation in the first place isn't really that big of a deal. but you can't just be cool about it, and leave it at that, instead you have to play the victim and throw in some bitter little smart ass comments at the end of what COULD have been a decent thread. if you don't like the way things are, you can hit the fuckin' road. period. the board will likely not miss you, and since the majority of the posters here are in agreeance that the subject of matt's personal life isn't up for discussion, i doubt there will be a fuss if you choose to leave because you feel that you're 'prohibited' from saying what you want to say. I wasn't referring to the 'Anton's board' part of your message. What I didn't understand was this: as part of your argument. So as I said before: The thought had crossed my mind to start a board of my own for open Matthew Good discussion. However, I wouldn't be willing to pay the money and invest the time to do it. Therefore, the better option for me is to discuss my view here. I respect Anton for what he does. From what I've seen he's a generally nice guy who seldom loses his cool. I know that he ultimately controls the board. But I should be able to argue my side and try to make a point. In the end, I may have made an impact, a dent of an impact, or none at all. Regardless, I tried. I hadn't planned on extending the issue beyond this very thread. I don't think you can claim to know how the majority of the board feels about this subject. Perhaps what you've witnessed is the vocal minority. I've seen a significant amount of people in favor of discussing the personal life of Good to a certain degree. Again, I feel that separating the man from the music is illogical. Conduct an anonymous poll, then tell me the results of how the majority feels. I'm not claiming you're wrong about their opinion, I just don't think you can claim to know it. Enough about the 'you can leave if you want' and 'Anton's board' stuff. I know. I seldom post here and over the last two years, I have usually just read anonymously then gone about my way. I don't have real friends here and I don't claim to - of course no one would miss me and my absence would go unnoticed. I visit because I sometimes find this board an interesting place for Matthew Good information. I was compelled to post in order to support my belief. P.S.: The "Yankee" comment from earlier was a joke. I'm from Iowa, though I know you probably didn't catch that.
  6. I don't understand your argument. If Anton doesn't want something discussed, then he's bound to either delete it or ban the person who is making that discussion. Are you saying that that's not basically prohibiting someone from talking about certain topics?
  7. no one said personal discussion of matt was PROHIBITED, you fucking ass. if you want to be a dick, you can do it somewhere else. i'm a whiny little bitch boy who can't learn when to keep my fingers quiet.
  8. We may also never hear "Song for the Girl" again (it being about Jen.)
  9. That's an entertaining video. I personally would like to see Good dance throughout a music video of his own. Whether just for fun or for mocking of the modern music video.
  10. So, with the recent upheavals in Good's life and a self proclaimed year that is "perhaps the worst of my life", we have to wonder what this means for Good's music. For those who favored Matthew Good Band's style of aggressive rock and moody ballads, this could be a good thing. We all know that Good's misery translated into great melodies and lyrics during this period. Good may be inspired by his current misfortunes and perhaps we will hear more personal songs once again instead of the political saturation of his recent works. Though I personally love the newer Good tunes, I would also love for the music to become more intimate again. However, worst case scenario in the "worst of my life" year that Good has been having: he quits music altogether. Let's hope it doesn't get that far. Also: Please refrain from discussion or speculation on what has made this year such a trying one for Good, as this is a music forum and any personal discussion of Matthew Good on the Matthew Good board is prohibited.
  11. I wasn't just speaking to you in my post, I was speaking to all the people who were against the idea of this thread and listing various reasons I thought that this thread was justified. I picked out your name because you were one of the people wanting to exclude discussion on Matt's personal life from this board and citing you was relevant to my post. As far as censoring goes, it almost sounds like this thread was on the verge of being deleted entirely. Were there no other threads on this topic before this thread was created? If there were, and they were deleted unjustly, then that's censorship. Regardless of that being true or not, saying "you can't talk about that" is just wrong. You're not paying for this place. The mods can censor whatever they feel is inappropriate. I think we agreed to that a long time ago. Right. That's why I said that ultimately the decision is yours. I'm not paying for this place. I personally have no desire to talk about Matt Good's relationship with his (ex)wife. I just think that people should be able to talk about it if they want to. My position was that this thread was not inappropriate. I believe that as long as the content is not hurting anyone or causing a disturbance to another individual, it should not be censored. I'm saying this is intended to be a Matthew Good board and it's Matthew Good we're talking about here. But again, it's your decision on what goes. P.S.: Have you gotten increasingly bitter in the last two years? I remember you not being a dick. ...and THAT you can censor. ;) if he were actually a dick, he'd have banned your ass for insulting him. You so karazy Mrs Jesus.
  12. Alright, if that's how "Matthew Good" being listed under the music section is meant to be construed... I can't argue with you.
