New Wintersleep Album

i think the new record is brilliant. seems to be more crafted than the last 2. the last song blows my face off, it really is a masterpiece. i love all of the records, but the others seem like the majority of the songs were born out of jams. which is cool to but its nice to hear something different. im highly looking forward to seeing them on wednesday.

Seeing these guys in Van next week! It'll be my third time seeing them. Should be fricken sweet. Hope they pillage most of their set from the new album. Its just too damn good. But you know, I find it odd that these guys tend not to have choruses in most of their songs... I think it is, like Derek says, because songs are born out of jams.

I love that about Wintersleep. Choruses are totally overrated IMO.

Well, as expected, they rocked the fuck out of Richards last night in Van. I think they played every song from the new album too. Damn fine.

Almost every song. It was great.

 

I actually like the first two albums more, I enjoyed the more intimate and minimal sound. There was more subltety before, now they're full-on rock, which is good, but I miss the quieter stuff. It sounds a bit over-produced as well, with some sloppily-done effects, but there are some amazing songs, so I can forgive all that.

 

I still listen to Weighty Ghost sometimes, but I don't really like the new arrangement either.

 

Miasmal Smoke and the Yellow Bellied Freaks, Drunk on Aluminum, Search Party, and Oblivion are my favorites. Especially Miasmal Smoke.

It was my first time seeing them tonight, and it was great.

Drunk on Aluminum, Orca, Miasmal, and especially Danse Macabre being the highlights.

 

And I don't care what y'all say, I still love Weighty Ghost.

You know, I really didn't like them at first, but Wintersleep is starting to grow on me.
