He may seem to speak his mind but make no mistake, he is handled within an inch of his life. He's a classical conservative, a small government type of person, but you know who said that before his first election? George W. Bush. And look what we have? Ron Paul may say a lot of things (many of them scary as hell) but if he were to get elected most of what he said on the campaign trail will go out the window. There is an army (literally) of lobbyists who will bang down his house of cards of promises faster than a fat kid on a cup-cake. The outside forces which exert HUGE pressure on candidates and presidents alike will effect him as well, don't mistake him for someone who can rise above the structure of the system itself, in reality nobody really can.

Since when were these bad things? I think you need to have limits on gun ownership, for example having ex-convicts who have a history of commiting gun crimes should not be allowed to own guns, in my opinion. Should the internet not be regulated? Isn't child porn wrong? Doesn't the UN work for the betterment of the world, even if it is ineffective? Shouldn't we help those who can't help themselves (the welfare state)? If a woman wants to have an abortion shouldn't she be able to?

On a side note and related to my insane American friend. Can someone explain to me why so many people south of the border are so against public health care? Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate who actually wants the U.S. to withdraw from Iraq. OMG!!!

 

That kinda impresses me. I watched the youtube Republican debates last week and he really didn't impress me much overall though. However, i don't know a ton about him. But the fact that he's a Republican at this moment in history would make me not vote for him.

 

For president i like Dennis Kucinich. He's the fucking man. I also like Mike Gravel a lot, but he seems a bit too old a little too fuddy-duddy to me. Maybe 10 years younger he'd be a better candidate, nowadays its looks like he's ready to take his afternoon nap.

 

It confounds me when a man of substance, candidness, honesty, and excellent judgement like Kucinich can trail so poorly in the polls to a guy like John Edwards who flip-flops on every position & is constantly admitting to making past mistakes on policy(kudos for admitting your mistakes, but they're still mistakes). Amazing that voters care more about boyish good-looks & southern charm than actual substance.
