i like learning, i hate people telling me what to do, i like the social aspect, i hate waking up in the morning.

 

it's a love/hate thing. i think that while it's overrated (you can do a lot more than you think with just a sparkling personality) i think it's necessary for some people (i.e. me).

I agree with this, except for it being necessary for some people. Coercion might be necessary for society in some cases (i.e. it's in society's interest to incarcerate violent criminals), but it's almost never in the interest of an individual to be coerced. More to the point there are non-coercive alternatives to schools.

 

I think schools should be democratized and no longer be institutions of discipline. After that, then it might be possible to determine whether or not they're too rotten to keep around or not.
