Boxing Day

Recommended Posts

I don't know how Boxing Day goes in the rest of the country but in Quebec, people become monkeys. The push each other and wait for hours for the stores to open and most of the time, the police has to either calm people down or arrest some.

People look like third world country people waiting for food but they waiting for Wii's and PS3's instead...

PA-THE-TIC... ;)

so what did you buy yesterday then?

I didn't go, I never go

I worked for Zeller's electronics department for 4 years though and I've seen more than my share of idiocy on boxing day.

So now that I don't work there anymore, when I see news reports showing people beating each other to be the first into Future Shop for instance, I am disgusted everytime...

I bet the fall of the soviet union was like boxing day for weapons. I'd have been in line for a batallion of T-72s.

have you seen lord of war? your kinda movie.

edit: and stores aren't open in these parts on boxing day. the internet is, though. i didn't buy a guitar in my boxers on boxing day this year, like i did last year.

Like one man on the news yesterday was leaving a Future Shop with TWO (yes 2) 42 inch plasma TV's...probably bought with a credit card...and he was all proud because he had saved 350$...

Did he really need two 42 inch plasma TV's?

Indeed! I was thinking of that when I posted.

That said, I just got home and there's a 42" Plasma TV sitting in a box in my kitchen. I guess my parents have been busy...

I find it ironic that stores actually stock up for boxing day sales... I thought the hole point was to get ride of the over stock they had from stocking up for christmas.

Since most of the sales last all week, I rarely go out until afternoon... and usually it's to pick up something I need, not to get a deal.

You obviously weren't shopping on Boxing Day yourself because you'd know that nobody would ever wait in a line to buy a PS3.

When I was still in school, I would go shopping for clothes on boxing day and stock up on stuff for the rest of the year. I would find awesome deals and be in and out of the mall by 11am. The mall would be crowded but never pushing or shoving. Now I have a job and will buy clothes whenever I please throughout the year so I slept in and didn't go this year.

I didn't shop after Christmas at all this year either. I just had no desire. I do a lot of successful thrift shopping these days, so I've sort of lost interest in paying more money for things that are far more common and generic than what I can find at Value Village or the Salvation Army.

people were camping outside of the Best Buy this year to buy plasma tv's for $100 less.

a $900 tv, they got for $800. $800 is STILL something I can't afford.

as someone who works retail, I think it should be a law that EVERYONE should have at least one retail job in their lives. then they could see how ridiculous people can be.
