Whats The Deal With Carmelina Being Played Live?

Recommended Posts

of the two live versions i've heard (edmonton, on youtube, and the one from the NF store), neither seemed to really capture the power of the song, especially the outro solo. from reading an old thread on here (2004), it alluded that matt likes the song but can't figure out what to do with it live. are there any other live recordings? more importantly, are there any live versions that actually sound good?

here's the thing, even if it is in flat tuning, or with a drop d minus half or anything like that, it CAN be played in standard. he is just lacking a Big Muff (or even a properly adjusted Blues Driver) pedal and Rich's bass never sounded thick enough live.

And as much as Pat is a fantastic drummer ... something about the way Ian hits them in that song ... it's one of those songs that the band got right as THE BAND ... everything seemed out of wack in the other arrangement. but it's probably the flat tuning and lack of bad ass pedals.

I think Fine Art is in Drop-D minus a half on Loser Anthems. That's at least how I figured out basslines to it *shrug*

its dagdad flat from what i can tell, i really hope whoever matt has playing guitar for this round has some nice dirt pedals that will get closer to the mgb sound

Back in the day, like early 2001, there was a bootleg (horrible quality) of Carmelina. Definitely the best live version I heard of it, even through all the static of the bootleg. The album version disappointed me at first actually because of it. I do like when Matt brings it out now though, even if it isn't quite the same.
