Virgin Festival

Recommended Posts

Ok, am I the only one in Cowtown that is disappointed in this announcement? I am really not interested in this virgin music festival. I was really looking forward to a sit-down theater gig like every other city. Not only that, but I cannot afford the $80 for a single day ticket to this event. So, I'm sad to say, that I'll probably be breaking my ten year streak of not missing a MG show in this town.

I'm a bit depressed at the thought.

Now I really wish I'd bought tickets to Edmonton when I still had the chance. **kicks self**

I'm going to go, but I'm with you in the disappointment. Personally I don't really like watching Matt Good shows with people who aren't there to see him specifically. It was cool to see him at Folk Fest because it was populated by a bunch of easy going hippies. Virgin Fest will be thousands of drunk teenagers angrily awaiting Linkin Park . . . I don't know how that's going to go over.

My god, I might actually have to go up to *shudder* Edmonton this summer.

I'm disappointed with the announcement as well, mostly because I WILL be in Edmonton the day before to see him, and then I'll have to get back into Calgary and go straight to Virgin to see him by the looks of things. I'm still going to go, but I'd rather have a nice sit down theater show. Oh well, what can ya do?

Looking at the lineup and seeing Stars playing makes me really happy, and depending on when they play, I'd see City and Colour and the Hip.

Right this could be bad it could be good. Virignfest line up is a lot more up beat, now not that the last tour wasn't amazing but after seeing to shows back to back I would love to see Matt rock out, be political and get over his exwife.

i really hope he adds another date, i want to go to both days just to see him, stp, and the hip, but correct me if i'm wrong, i though everyone except the headliners got less then an hour, that plus a bunch of drunken teenagers and indie kids...this festival will by stomping on every last nerve i have, lol

I'd rather have the opportunity to see Matt Good with a bunch of people I know are Matt Good fans. What if there's another pinhead convention?

I've seen Matt play twice at the Calgary Stampede- once during the Beautiful Midnight era, and once after Avalance was released, and both times, at least from where I was situated, the crowd was very respectful to both the band and the people around them.

Really? I wish I'd been standing with you then. I got smashed in the head from a surfer's kick at the show in 2000, and the one in 2003 had me stuck behind a gaggle of teenage girls all screaming for Matt to take off his clothes. I moved on both occasions, the first one with the help of security, the second just my moving to the side so I couldn't see, just listen.

Prior to that was Edgefest in '98, which was good, but I don't know if that's because I was 16 or not.

The outdoor Folkfest crowd was incredible, but it poured rain and was freezing.

As you can see...me luck with the outdoor festival's just doesn't exist. But I might suck it up and go anyway. We'll see.

At the 2000 show, I was kinda right in the middle of the pack and it wasn't bad, and 2003 I was near the exit for the skyride.

Remember how awesome Running for Home was in 2000, while the sun was setting? Yeah, pretty much perfect.

The rain at folkfest didn't bug me too much.

Also, it appears if you go to futureshop.ca there are a limited quantity of single day tickets available.

*sigh* Yeah, that was a good show. The lawn chair, the redemption of stuffed critters by fire, the plastic sword...

good times:)Thanks for reminding me!

The rain at Folk Fest would have been fine if it hadn't been so bloody cold. I spent the whole the the set huddled under a child's NHL quilt that a friend had stuffed in the back of her car.

I might endure this Virgin Fest. I've seen the Hip about half as many times as Matt (still a sickening amount), but if Edmonton falls through completely, I can't just break my record because I'm too "good" to hang out with a bunch of people not worthy of Matt's show. Er...we'll see.
