for those of you who haven't heard of them, the last shadow puppets are a band comprised of alex turner of the arctic monkeys, miles kane from the rascals, and james ford from simian mobile disco. their debut album, the age of understatement also features string arrangements from owen pallett of final fantasy.

has anyone heard this album yet? what are your thoughts? i haven't listened to it yet, but i'm interested because i really dislike the arctic monkeys and i want to see if turner is capable of doing anything different. apparently this album is a kind of tribute to the baroque pop style of people like scott walker, and as a fan of walker and the walker brothers, i'm definitely interested in seeing if the last shadow puppets can pull it off. also, turner, ford and pallett seem like an odd combination, so i want to hear how they sound together.
