St. Catharines Show June 12th, Help Plz.

Recommended Posts

This is probably the only show i may be able to attend during Matt's tour this summer (unless i want to pay $150 to hop a Greyhound bus by myself, which i don't really). Note: i've never been to St. Catharines. It says on Matt's site that the show is at "Arizona's", which i've found out is a restaurant/bar place (i think).

There's no info or link on Matt's site, so does anyone know anything about this show? When it may start? How many people does Arizona's hold etc.?

Ahh, Arizona's was my first Matt Good show. It was in 2003. I was living with my wife (then fiance) in Syracuse NY and she had a graduate final the next morning. We drove out to the show (in the middle of nowhere) and were lucky enough to catch the soundcheck. I remember, frankly, being pretty starstruck seeing them play from across the field....

So anyway, I'd guess that Arizona's holds about 1,000 people. You'll think you're nowhere when you get off the exit to the venue, and then you'll come around the corner and see fields of corn, farm, nothingness, and then a bar. It's kind of like From Dusk Til Dawn without the pyramid. You're going to have a great time. Buy your tickets in advance, prepare for a long line guarded by cheap fences, and I'll bet you $1,000 that Matt plays a song standing in the middle of the highway. I guarantee he'll talk about how he's playing a show "for free" for anyone who pulls up along side the road.

Frankly, if you BYOB, you can really do that. You can just park in the lot, cross the road and go see him in a lawn chair from a corn field across the road.

I'm jealous. I live in DC now.

(But I did get to hang out with him in Arlington, VA.)

yep pretty much what he said. it's a bar and matt will play outside it's bigger than 1k people i'd say more like 2.5 to 3 k.(I was at the 03 show btw!!!) he played awcc from across the street...he didn't go outside the fence the 2nd time. and idk if you can actually stay outside the fence, prob not worth it if you really want to see him play!

it's a cool spot to see MG out under the stars. it's kinda tricky in that it's pretty isolated from st cat's so you have to keep your eyes peeled.

can't help with if the show IS or isn't going down.

it's 2 blocks from Brock University. it's a outdoor bar during the summer. i live in st. catharines so... i was actually there last friday briefly for a bit. arizona's holds about 1200 on a good weekend night (fridays and saturdays are packed to the tits)

Thanks for the info peeps, and the link. Well an outdoor show makes way more sense. I was afraid it was just gonna be some small bar show for 200 people that would be impossible to get it. Sounds like it will be one of the more wilder shows on the tour (crowd and Matt).

Hopefully i can make the show. Btw what time does MG usually do soundchecks if i want to catch that? Also, what would be a recommended time to get in the line for a good spot? 1 hour before admission?

Nooo, soundcheck was at like 2 or 3 o'clock when I saw him there. We literally went to the mall, played mini blacklight golf, ate a bucket of poutine, and then went back for the show with PLENTY of time.
