Most Epic Concerts You've Had The Chance To Attend...

Recommended Posts

Cool. It sounds like Wilco and Explosions in the Sky were pretty good. I'll have to check them out, plus Muse, someday. I don't think Explosions in the Sky will ever come to Calgary though. I was at the #3 MG concert at Mac Hall too! I wasn't at the #4 MGB concert at the Calgary Stampede, but I went to their second outdoor performance at Calgary Stampede.

Woah!!! You sure have a vivid memory for that concert at the Stampede Corral. I don't remember any of that stuff, because I was way at the back (last row in the nosebleed section). I couldn't see anything. I only heard the power of their music which blew me away. I just remember the stuffed bull. I'm glad I didn't see the Copyright lead singer's cockbulge. I feel sorry for you. hehe.

That must have hurt being in the most pit at the front of the stage. Ouch. I remember making the same mistake of being front row centre at the 2002 Molson Canadian Snow Jam tour at Shaw Millennium Park. The mosh pit when punk band Strung Out came out was insane! When I got home, I looked in the mirror and I had all these bruises on my arms and chest. It looked like someone beat me up! My hair was also wet and sticky from people throwing soft drinks in the air. I won't be doing that again anytime soon.

The first is Suicidal Tendancies, Danzig and Metallica at Darien Lake in '94, a car in the parking lot burst into flames while Danzig was on and the crowd went nuts for the rest of the night. Still the most memorable concert I've been to after all these years. Next is Tal Bachman and Barnaked Ladies for the New Year's Eve show 12/31/99 at Marine Midland (now First Niagara....what a cool way to bring in the new millennium.

Blink-182. Say what you want about the music, but it's catchy and jumping around in the moshpit is fun as fuck. Also I saw the Joy Formidable last september in Vancouver in some tiny theater, it was intense.

I attended to one of the best concerts Garbage has ever performed in Spain: it was past July in the BBK Live music festival in the north of Spain. They were presenting their new album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zbmDYsbqc4.

And in the same festival, an AMAZING three-hour-concert by The Cure... the ecstasis: they had some technical problems at the beginning and instead of staying backstage, Robert Smith just picked up his guitar and played 3 acoustic songs while the problem was being fixed: that's a professional!!!

Porno for Pyros

and

The Tragically Hip

(just after the release of "trouble at the hen house")

Probably a huge hippie festival called blue skies. I guess the tickets are hard to come by and you have to be in some crazy cult to get them but I dunno.I got the ticket from a friend. Either way, I had a lot of fun with a bunch of hippies , square danced, saw some cool bands, hugged a lot of random people, ate some awesome hippie food, taught people how to play poi and diablo. Good times.

flying to montreal to see nine inch nails, with explosions in the sky opening for them, in the fall. so that. i assume.

That's going to be a great show. Explosions are a fantastic live band, and while I'm not a huge Nine Inch Nails fan I've heard nothing but amazing things about their live shows. Enjoy!

i'd quite honestly rather see eits in a small venue, headlining, where i could be up against the stage, and they could play a lengthy set, but i've got a decent seat for this show, and they're just an unexpected bonus.

I saw them play at the Vogue theater here in Vancouver and while I wasn't up against the stage, I was sitting right by the soundboard and had a really great view and they were incredible. I'm stoked that they'll be getting some more exposure touring with NIN, they deserve it.

nin and explosions were epic. i was choking back tears listening to explosions, and wanted to throat punch the jerks talking through them (though i guess that's what people do during opening bands). nine inch nails were great. trent's still got it, robin finck paces the stage like a wolf, and the visuals were really cool. played a ton off the new album. the entire bell centre sung hurt with him for the last song. the only thing i'd change would be the stage presence of the new guys. they play fine, but don't move much. didn't take away from the show, but didn't add anything. but yeah, most epic show i've seen.
