I love it but then again I've been a fan of the books for a while now. Love how faithful they've been to them so far and any extra bits they've added are for the benefit of those new to the series. Added scenes tend to flesh out the relationships between certain characters a bit more, which is completely understandable. I'll say the first few episodes might be a touch slow for some folks but it's worth the wait as they do need to set up the world for a while before they can start messing with it in a way that the audience will understand. It might sound like a bit of an investment but at least give it 4-5 episodes before you pass judgement.

We just started watching it. Kevin used to read the books and I know nothing of it.

First ep was a little boring, started to pick up near the end, I'm keen to give it another go, though. I hear it's like True Blood/Mad Men, in that it's fairly close to soft corn porn :S

yup it's very slow the first 1-2 episodes, lucky for you, you can watch it 1-2 sittings without waiting a week. It's a huge world it takes a bit to put everything in motion.

The soft core porn stuff dies down towards the end of the season, I think there are 1-2 episodes without boobs actually.

We watched the 2nd episode, and I don't know if it's because I'm not paying enough attention to the dialogue or I'm too baked or something, but there is SO much going on, that I'm getting quite confused on what's going on and who's who...

The last scene of the season finale proved to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that I'm a nerd because I was more excited by the dragons on Daenerys' naked body than by her naked body.

hahaha it might be the baked confusing ya. It's definitely very complicated at first to sort things out. It was for me watching it sober and attentive!

I think as you get more facetime with everyone it will be easier to sort out.

The most disappointing thing for me is the lack of time north of the wall. I didn't know ANYTHING about it but from the first scene kinda assumed mid-evil zombie show. Which it might become but wasn't during the first season. That said it's still enjoyable once you get into the characters a bit. It's refreshing that seemingly NO one is off limits to die, very cool.

Watched the first episode. It's somewhat boring, except the opening scene. I might try another episode.

The random nudity and profanity seems totally out of place and not needed. On the other hand, they're boobies.

From what I understand, the random nudity/profanity, is in line with how the books are. Apparently, the sexy parts in the book are like whoa.

Definitely give it another go, though. I was bored at the beginning, but it gets very engaging by the 4th ep or so...

Yep, brilliant series - just hate waiting for each episode !

*Spoilers removed*

Goddamn it. Even though you blacked out the spoilers, they were totally visible (no, mouse wasn't over it). I don't know if its from Google Chrome but that was definitely not something I wanted to read :| Still totally into the show, and I rarely watch TV, maybe 30 hours a year at most. As soon as Season 2 ends I plan to read all the books.

I am pretty excited for season 2, especially now that I'm just about done the 4th book, so have a pretty good idea about who everyone is and how they're related and who they fly their banners for and all that stuff.

Random factoid- I guy a work with used to live in the UK and his friend plays Hodor on the show. He's apparently going to California for a convention this summer, and then possibly up to Vancouver. I might get to meet Hodor!

Guest Idioteque

I found GOT completely boring after Season 2, this new season has been absolutely insane though. Kind of glad they have a writing team now & not waiting on Martin.

I can't remember season 3, and skipped 4 & 5 because I read the books and found it repetitive, haha.  However I've enjoyed not knowing what was going to happen.  This season was good build-up (The Hodor episode was great).  And the last two episodes were all-out 0-60!  Great capstone, and it'll be fun to see where they take it.
