D'you reckon he just put this together for fun, because people were complaining his video was not a "real video"? Or maybe it's fan made?

Is it just me or are the lyrics on the video wrong in the second chorus?

I would think this is purely for marketing purposes, to further promote the single and upcoming album release on YouTube.

 

It seems these "lyric videos" are a trend right now, lots of artists are putting out official ones. Probably because the marketing people figured out lots of fans were making their own and they were getting lots of views on YouTube.

 

The first video put out for Had It Coming wasn't very interesting and didn't do much to promote the release. The marketing people at Matt's label probably ordered one of these be made.

Interesting. Strange that they/he'd put it out with inaccurate lyrics. I like that the video goes with the lyrics but I also actually quite like the other video.

They're also cheap and easy to produce, which probably helps using them as a promotional tool
