New Demos Going Up (Chaotic Neutral)

Recommended Posts

Refusing to leave space camp?

The only vocals at present are the first line of the first verse and the first chorus. While I’ve written most of the lyrics, I’m still in the process of flushing the song out, so that’ll wait before laying anything else down. It may cause some to find it weird, but they’ve just been slotted in there as a template.
  • Still working on the out. Have to address an electric guitar part there. I know what I’m going to do, just haven’t done it yet.
  • Levels are all over the place. I’ve new speakers and am working in a new space, it’ll be a while before I get in line with where things sit in here and from my chair. That said, I work very quickly and levels aren’t something I tend to pay a lot of attention to during the process. Recording acoustics with my Neuman in any new space and with new gear is a process, especially regarding levels.
  • There is no bass guitar in this song. I’ve been obsessed with using synths for low end combined with acoustics and went into this song with that expressed purpose. That said, Milos is going to have to get some sort of synth pedal - though he probably already has something. After that, I’ll make him and Anthony fight in the thunderdome.

e: Added a new section on the new album: Chaotic Neutral

Lyrics will be posted there as we get them.

Wow. Nice. I really like this direction. He hasn't done all that much acoustic since Hospital Music so it's nice to hear that again.

Crusader, Any chance that you took a rip or something? It's been eons since there was last a Matthew Good demo. Something that I would look forward to than most everything else on the internet - back in the days when the odd demo would show up.

I was able to catch it. I wouldn't mind sharing if someone would let me know whether that's alright or not.

I really like this direction, and am looking forward to see how it progresses.

Not sure if this is an official name or not but the first demo appears to be on an album named "Chaotic Neutral."

e: I like the instrumentals as well. "Night Orders" is kind of Bowie-esque and Avalanche era.

e2: Anyone want to help with lyrics? I can send you some NF$ for your troubles if you want them.

Need some help with these lyrics!

Night Orders

She wraps around you like a snake rope chain [??]

Under the lights you hear the question softly pinging [??]

But you don't remember nothing because forgetting's all that keeps you sane

Under the table the fire breaths to life

Climb the walls across the ceiling down the pipes

Sitting [??] inside your dreams

He's not always keeps you [??]

Chorus:

Singing "help, save me" [??]

Yeah, help me [??]

Out in the wilderness, I've been practising for years

Bombshell to videos, dig for fire, facing fear [??]

Oh you don't know what you're doing, boy, so you better best stay here [??]

Well you and me, well [??] nothing gets too clear [??]

[??]

Go tell off [??] red and black to me up here [??]

What I could make out:

She wraps around you like a snake, a rope, a chain

Under the lights you hear the question softly [?]

But you don't remember nothing because forgetting's all that keeps you sane

Under the table the fire breathes to life

Climb the walls across the ceiling down the pipes

He sits [??] inside your dreams

He's not always keep you tied

Singing "help save me"

Yeah, help me [read?]

Out in the wilderness, I've been practising for years

Bombshell to videos, dig for fire, facing fear

Oh you don't know what you're doing, boy, so you better best stay here

Well you and me, [the less?] nothing gets too clear [?]

[?]

Go tell [off your?] on his kitchen floor

Red and black to me [a past?]

Oh you don't know what you're doing, boy, so you better best stay here

Well you and me, well it's nothing gets too clear (this one is tough)

Like verse and ghetto, accelerates in spear (this line is really tough to decipher)

Go tell him off on his kitchen floor, red and black to me appear

Disregard this post, I found the answer myself. A mod or admin can delete this post.

OP:How many posts is it to get into the lounge again? 60? I'd forgotten about it after the layout change :P

I'm quite enjoying these demos. I like Arrows but this is the kind of music that has more of an impact on me from Matthew Good. At first I thought Space Camp was repetitive and got kind of boring but now I think it's pretty interesting and look forward to seeing what he does with it. Night Orders is more classic MG with some nice melody and ambience. I'm fine with this direction.

This is a little off topic but I just need to say I love the song Hornets. I love when artists have unreleased songs that are just as good if not better than the songs that make the albums.

Also to be back on topic I finally heard the new demos and really like the direction. A little more old school yet fresh. Love it. Hope to hear more in the near future.

There is a new demo up on the blog, "Something Like a Storm", it is showing as 21 minutes long, and Matt says will be taken down around 430 PST today.

Listening now!

The thought of Matt Good putting out a 20+ minute track is too fucking cool.

This coming from a huge fan of Yes and similar prog rock bands who routinely put out tracks of that length.

*Hopes*

This could be Matt's 2112 ^_^

I'm 2 minutes in and it's nice so far. Reminds me a bit of Explosions in the Sky.

Oh, man. Preview is over. I only heard the first two minutes of it. If anyone has a copy, I would love to hear it.
