Need Help Figuring Out Gaming Pc Requirements.

Guest Idioteque

My mother's graphic card just committed suicide. She plays World Of Warcraft, so I need to figure out if there are any *Cheap* PC's out there that can run WoW, it won't be running any other games so hopefully there's a computer that can just handle that game for her.

WoW Minimum System Requirements:

PC:

Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows7/Windows8 (latest Service Pack)

Intel Core2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X3 8750

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, ATI Radeon HD 4850 or Intel HD Graphics 3000

WoW Recommended Specifications:

PC:

Windows 7/Windows 8 64-bit (latest Service Pack)

Intel Core i5 2400 or AMD FX-4100 or better

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470, ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better

I've found a PC online that is:

IBM Lenovo M58p Mid-size Tower System

E8500 3.16GHz Core 2 Duo CPU (6MB Cache, 1333 FSB)

3GB DDR3 Dimm

250GB SATA HDD

DVDRom Drive

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit

--------------------------------------

NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE TO ME.

If anyone knows, please let me know, or can direct me to great cheap PC's.

Thanks!

P.S yeah my mom plays World Of Warcraft, what of it?

I'd recommend looking at NCIX and price matching other stores/sites to get the best bang for your buck. They can build your stuff too for an extra $50 and also have pre-built computers. They're all over BC as well.

Here's a bunch of part recommendations from SA if you want to build it yourself.

CPU:

  • Intel i5-4590
  • Intel i3-4360

Motherboard:

  • ASRock H97M Pro4 (mATX)
  • ASRock H97M ITX/ac (mini-ITX, integrated WiFi)

Graphics:

  • Radeon R7-250 - Super duper bare-minimum card you should be using for gaming.
  • GeForce GTX 750
  • GeForce GTX 750 Ti (some models do not require PCIe power making them suitable for prebuilts)
  • Radeon R7-260X (FreeSync capable)
  • Radeon R7-265

Hard drive:

  • System drive or higher-performance SSD companion drive:
    • Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB
    • Western Digital Caviar Black for capacities 2 TB and up

    [*]Bulk-storage-only drives:

    • Western Digital Caviar Red 4 TB
    • HGST (Hitachi) Deskstar NAS 3 TB

RAM (memory):

  • 8 GB (2x4) of DDR3-1600 CL9, 1.5V or 1.35V
  • 8 GB (2x4) of DDR3-1866 to -2400, CL lower than 11, 1.35V-1.65V

Solid State Drives:

  • Samsung 840 EVO
  • Intel SSD 530

Cases:

  • Micro-ATX cases
    • Aerocool DS Cube
    • Cooler Master N200
    • Corsair Carbide Air 240
    • Fractal Design Arc Mini R2
    • Fractal Design Node 804
    • Nanoxia Deep Silence 4
    • Phanteks Enthoo Evolv
    • Silverstone Sugo SG10

    [*]Mini-ITX cases

    • Bitfenix Prodigy
    • Corsair Graphite 380T
    • Corsair Obsidian 250D
    • EVGA Hadron Air (includes 500W power supply)
    • Silverstone Milo ML07
    • Silverstone Raven RVZ01
    • Silverstone Sugo SG08 (includes 600W power supply)

Power supplies:

  • Antec EarthWatts Platinum EA-550 (550W)
  • Corsair CSM CS450M (450W)
  • Rosewill Capstone (450W)
  • SeaSonic SS-400FL2 (400W fanless)
  • SeaSonic SSR-450RM (450W)
  • XFX TS 550 (550W)

There's also some pre-picked builds:

SA Value Gamer:

  • Intel Core i3-4160
  • H97 motherboard
  • 8 GB DDR3-1600 CL9 RAM
  • GeForce GTX 750 Ti or Radeon R7-265
  • 120 GB or 250 GB SSD

SA Penny-Pincher

  • Dell Outlet Inspiron 3847 (3000-series) with Intel Core i3 or i5 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB hard drive
  • GeForce GTX 750

To be honest, the penny-pincher build might be the cheapest and the video card should be good enough for 1920x1080 WoW.
