Summer 2017 shows

Nice. I am leaning towards going to this one. After seeing the reviews last year and seeing russic's picture of the beautiful backdrop, it would be worth the trip. The venue is a dream come true for me. It reminds me of the stunning backdrop of a wedding I went to in Hawaii. It was right by the water's edge.

There's a free show in Niagara Falls August 25th! Scotiabank convention centre.

(Technically "off-topic" as it does not pertain to the BC show, but maybe this could be a summer show's thread instead? As it appears more shows will be rolling out??)

I wonder if Matt will be playing any Canada Day shows this year? Hedley is playing my local area (Surrey) but it would be cool to see a Vancouver or Victoria show happen.

That Niagara Falls one sounds pretty great.  I don't know if I want to gamble and hope that there's enough space left when I get there.

Depends on what other one-off shows he's going to be doing this summer.  I don't see him being in Ontario for just one free show, especially with the full band.

They said the capacity is 6000. So I feel pretty good about getting in.

Anyone been to the Scotiabank Convention Center?  According to their website http://www.fallsconventions.com/theatre.html they have a "1,000 seat Fallsview Theatre " So I'm guessing they have multiple spaces for shows?  Would be driving several hours to attend and would feel better about our chances if capacity was 6k vs 1.

I guess not; it's sold out. Just when I was getting my hopes up... :(

That strikes me as a "release tickets in batches" scenario. I didn't have to work that hard to get tickets last time.

For anybody wondering, it's a unique venue to say the least:

If you are going... for christ sake hydrate, sunscreen, and wear something you can sweat in. I will say without pause it was the among the hottest experiences of my life.

Good to know. Thanks for the tips.

I hope Matt and the band play at the Stampede Coca-Cola stage this year. They usually play there every other year.

edit: I received an email reply from them today:

Unfortunately we are completely sold out of tickets for all three of our concerts and I will not be able to make an exception.

I recommend joining our Platinum Wine Member Club for next summer’s concerts as they get first dibs on tickets about two weeks prior to them going on sale to general public.

It looks like have to pay $$ for this Club, so I'm guessing the audience will be mostly wine connoisseurs.

It's a no-win situation.

It will be strange days when matt gets them loaded up with an avalanche of merlot and sends them running for home.

haha!! So true! On top of that, I think members of the Club receive a minimum of 3 half cases of wine per year. That's 18 bottles of wine.

Oh ya couldn't have caught the June 2nd Vancouver show Matt? Jeez! I'm going anyways but this would've been a huge surprise haha.

Ehhhhhh. I don't think I'm too keen on this one. Great exposure for both artists, but this summer is just getting too expensive. Why do I get the feeling I'll be able to get tickets at half the price in a few months on Groupon?

I agree with this statement. Just hopped on Ticketbastard to grab tickets and ended up not getting any...there's only two price levels ($65 and $85), which is a little too rich for my blood. Will wait and maybe see if the price drops (usually I wouldn't think that's a thing - but it happened for the 3EB) show later this summer and I kicked myself later.

I'm very torn on this. Plus ticketmaster seems to be telling me no. I get to the payment step and it just goes to an error

If it is supporting only the cost is a bit high ($70/ea after fees) for really only knowing one Midnight Oil song, and that's only having heard Alexisonfire's cover first.
