The Smashing Pumpkins: Countdown to New Music

Not sure if there are any other fans of The Smashing Pumpkins here, but I’m very excited about the countdowns currently shown on their website to what is almost certainly new music. I guess we’ll find out soon as the first countdown ends next Thursday night/Friday morning at midnight.

For anyone not already aware, they are planning to release a new 20 song double album this year, likely coming out in November.

Looking forward to that.  Still hoping for that expanded/deluxe Machina reissue...

Yeah, me too. I’ve been anxiously awaiting its release since 2015. It would be great if it came out as one of these five countdowns, but it’s starting to feel like next year is much more likely at this point. Hopefully all the extra time is out to good use.

There is now a 6th countdown, ending a week after what was previously the last countdown. There is a new interactive webpage on their website with clues and puzzles as well.

The first countdown ended with a new 2 song single Cyr/The Colour of Love and a new music video for Cyr being released in just over an hour.

Got an 80's vibe going on. Not what I was expecting but I like these 2 so far.

Yeah, it’s a bit of a new direction for them. Somewhat reminiscent of Billy Corgan’s first solo album The Future Embrace. I’m really looking forward to hearing the other 18 songs off the new album In the next couple of months.

I already posted my thoughts in the 'other' thread, but then I noticed this one here.

Yes, I am very excited for the new album. I liked the last 'record,' but at only 8 songs, it felt more like a 'getting reacquainted' EP than an actual full-length.
