The invasion of Iraq

Recommended Posts

For those who still think there are no economical reasons behind the invasion of Iraq, and still believe that the main reasons were the existence of weapons of mass destruction or finishing with the international terrorism, here you have some links of articles WHICH PROVE that Bush's reason were just economical:

and this is just a sample... the Internet, mass media from all over the world is full of information like this

you are right, DV, that is another theory I read in some of the thousand and thousand of articles I have read since last year on this issue: since the Euro is stronger than the dollar, Americans would lose a lot of money in the exchange between euros and dollars because they would have to buy oil paying with euros...

again, and again, and again: another economical reason...

I don't believe that Bush lead the country into war with Iraq for economic reasons.

I haven't read the original posters links (and I don't really have the time to do so), but I believe that Bush and company had always planned on invading Iraq and they believed it was the moral compelling thing to do: they needed to carve a niche of democracy into the Middle East and then they hoped that the experiment would spread thoughout the region.

Unfortunately, their strategy is ideological and I believe they choice faith in their idea rather than in the facts presenting them. That Iraq could produce WMD's and could collaborate with Al Qaeda and others may have been a fiction, but it fit in with their ideology nicely.
