New music prediction

I have a feeling the new "Tribus" album will never see the light of day. Permanently shelved and something new put out in it's stead down the line.

Given all that's gone on I can't imagine putting out an album that is so infused with what I'll simply call for now "bad press" is beneficial. I sort of imagine putting as much distance between MG and the controversy around him is the goal now, so I just can't see it coming out anymore.

Maybe I'm wrong but I kinda think I'm not. Anyone else feel the same way?

Lots of older artists don't even bother recording albums anymore anyway.  They are a lot of work and there is no money in them anymore.  I wouldn't be surprised if Matt stopped recording albums and just released singles to be streamed every now and then. 

Honestly, the average person has no clue about all of this controversy and I wouldn't be surprised if Matt continued to tour randomly after COVID and all of this blows over. He would probably still sell out venues because most people who know about him and would go see him, don't come to sites like this, and considering the lack of press around the "situation" that occurred earlier this year, he could probably still make a decent living touring like most old bands do.

I am hopeful to hear some new music though I am not holding my breath. I know with the accusations, being dropped by Warner Music Canada, and time for self reflection, I am sure it will take some time before we hear anything.

It would be interesting if Tribus was released and all profits redirected to charity supporting women… would Hayley likely do the same? I am sure a lot of the other artists involved on that project would have liked to see their contributions see the light of day.

So Matt and Haley did this Tribus music together?  I really like the sounds they've got going on these.  I think Hollis is fantastic.  I wonder how much there is.  Too bad we probably won't get to hear the rest.

In terms of new music being released, you never know. I noticed that Ryan Adams recently released two of the three albums he had originally planned for release back in 2019. They sat on the shelf for just about 2 years after he was blacklisted. I think they were being sold through his website. MG could do something similar. Probably would just need to invest in a better online store where you can download digital albums. Or maybe get on Bandcamp?

Clarification: I didn't actually buy the albums that RA just released, btw. I just happened to look into it one day.

This should blow over I would think.  I cannot speak for any of the accusers but I will say the pattern of Hayley's actions are vindictive.  The posts release where she was texting with Matt's ex are damning. She seems like she wanted attention and she got it. Now having an Only Fans acct. Come on!  

 

She was cheated on and wanted to end Matt's career. Think about it rationally. Would this garner media attention if Matt wasn't a famous musician? No it wouldn't.  People are cheated on every day. Hell it's probably happened to all of us am I right?  If it were any worse than cheating we would have known by now. Matt was me too'd and it sucks.

Any "emotional abuse" Matt may have caused must not have been bad if the girl is selling pics of herself for money and attention.

Don't get me wrong. A girl can do what she wants with her body it is her right. But her actions don't add up.

Matt can release music without her and it would sell extremely well. He could announce a show in Vancouver for tomorrow and it would likely sell out.  Hayley needs Matt more than Matt needs Hayley.

From what I see, Hayley has 3,820 followers and the number been steadily declining over past few weeks. It doesn't make any sense.

The woman managed to show up in one of his videos, then managed to record an entire album with him.  When the album (and relationship) fell through she managed to make herself famous by dragging his name through the mud (deservedly so).  Meanwhile she posts half-naked photos of herself bouncing her ass on a public social media account and now from what it sounds like sells pornographic pictures of herself.  Oh and she drives a BMW.  These are the actions of an attention seeker.  Not saying the things she's said are untrue, but it's obvious that least part of her M.O. has been using Matt to get famous and further her career to hell or high water and it worked.

As for new music, i'm sure once a proper amount of time has passed, maybe another 6 months or so, i think MG will probably come out of the woodwork and at some point at least post some demos or whatnot.  I'm sure he'll tour again in some capacity.

This is exactly my thought. But again the fact he was dropped from his label is complete and utter bullshit.  If your significant other cheated on you would she be fired for it? Think about it. What makes a musician different than say a software developer, a customer service agent?  The fact that they are in the public eye. Otherwise there is no difference. Matt should not have been dropped from the label especially while Hayley flaunts herself and is doing everything in her power to trash his reputation and name.

It's not just about the cheating though, there's all sorts of abuse allegations involved by her and fans.

Given the state of the industry and the tastes of his fans and these events a lot of me wonders what genius we have missed from the jazz-rock albums Matt could have put out, follow-ups to LOES, Cold Water, Tiger by the Tail etc.  There was a point where musically he was hitting the heights of Avalanche with that stuff, maybe surpassing it.  And the amazing thing  is the jazz stuff is completely the opposite in emotion to Avalanche.  Something like Rabbits is just pure euphoria, whereas the jazz stuff is so mellow and gentle.  I think he did the rock version of that with Moving Walls but it didn't quite hit the same, more of a run-of-the-mill singer-songwriter album.

I watched the video. Was it confirmed to be a victim of Matt? Honestly what she said was pretty vague. And the way she spoke about it like she knew the inside details of why this person took their life....idk. Rubbed me the wrong way.

I don’t know any inside information so maybe there’s more to it but from Hayley’s IG, it seemed like the person was being bullied on social media? I don’t really know.

From the comments I gathered the person was bullied on social media. I just don't like the way  Hayley presents herself. I'm sure this post will get it's share of downvotes but at this point I honestly could care less. This is an MG fan site (or was last I knew).  I think the allegations would hold more weight if it came from someone who didn't seen like they were in it for the money.  Hayley flaunting her onlyfans and her body are 80% of her IG.  The other 20% is trying to ruin Matt and his career.  I feel that if something were going to happen it would have by now.  Would it be good to hear from Matt? Sure.  But why give her more ammo to go off of?  He's damned if does damned if he doesn't.  

It is sad that someone took their own life. But to put the blame on Matt is not fair either.

I don't think he could really say anything even if he wanted to because of legal reasons.
