Green Day

I heard the whole album a few days ago and it's probably the only album of theirs I'll actually buy since Dookie and Insomniac. Reaaly solid album. Concept album too which always holds a place dear to my heart.

 

One thing I noticed and seriously....listen to it and tell me if i'm wrong. The song "Jesus of Suburbia"...the chorus is EXACTLY taken from Bryan Adams' "Summer of 69"...the melody of it...I swear. Not only that but there's a section where Billie says over and over "I don't care if you don't".....now, I know he said they're huge Cure fans, but come on........

I found that the new album is VERY reminisent to The Who, just in the sence of the song structuring. Its Pete townshend in the form of billie joe armstrong. I found it incredibly good.

i just bought it this morning, i thought i was crazy because for some reason, i was trying to sing along with Jesus, and Summer of 69 came out, i thought i was crazy, but it's true!! Awesome album, it's like a cross between Dookie and Warning, without all of the collective suck. This and Nimrod are definitley the best ;)

I've been looking forward to this album, not because I even really plan on listening to it or anything. Just that my girlfriend's is a big fan of Green Day, it'd probably make her happy if I got it for her.

I've already heard the song "Amercian Idiot" before this album was released. I used to like Green Day at one point, but now they're nothing but arogant "hippies". In other words, I'm sick and tired of these bands preaching their political speeches in their concerts (this includes Incubus, Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, and those I forgot, you know who you are). After all, don't we go to concerts to hear their music?!? Save your political speeches for conventions. I am boycotting this band and others that I've mentioned. Put a lid on it. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!

Hmm, I think American Idiot is terrible.... but I have a complex... I always compare other artists to MG, it just never works. I appreciate Greenday's point of view on it's own country, that takes some guts.... but the song is just poorly done. The guitar is so cliche and he has no tone variety when he sings.... TIme of Your Life (Good Riddance) is sooooo much better... violins, good acoustic nothing more needs to be said.

Who said it was an insult? lol. and besides the guitar is simple because they are trying to incorporate punk still, which you can hear on the song. only 4 chords. one more than a ramones song. and his singing was never something exceptional anyway.
