No More Comments On Mg Blog

Recommended Posts

Well i just read on matt's blog today that there is not option to comment anymore do to idiocy and rudeness.

Actually i was just talking to Tim the other day about how much shit Matt puts up with. And the fact that i'm almost embarrassed to be one of his fans, because of the way that half of them act.

I've heard too may complaints from Matt about comments, emails and concert behaviour...i hope that one day he will talk about something postive that someone wrote/said to him...

comments?

Can't say I am surprised it was taken down either. I guess he gets alot of shit b/c he shares his opinions with the fans and won't waffle on what he is saying. Not that I think it is right for him to get shit for it but... I do get worried that he will give up b/c he thinks the world is against him or that it is not worth it for all the grief he gets.

Yeah I expected this would happen... again.

I think people should have to apply to comment. You'd need to send in an essay on why you want to post and then you're manually approved heh. If you really want to comment then you'd do it. Easier to weed people out.

I never actually used the comments, i read them often enough. Most times there was nothing worth reading as people are for teh most part idiots. but sometimes there was a good post here or there. Its too bad, hold on to your maturity as it seems to be in short supply these days

He's kind of a hypocrite, guys. He has a tendency to withhold certain liberties from people on an ongoing basis. Freedom this... freedom that... just not here, all right?

- I'm only in it for the music anyway. I don't really care what Utopic extremist views he has.

If everyone treated him like a normal human, then there would be no need to not treat us like humans.

Of course he has his flaws like everyone else but there’s no need to point them out and bash him about them.

How would you like if someone bashed you about every flaw you had in your personality? It’d be pretty exhausting and annoying to hear over and over again that you are an opinioned hypocrite. Duh he knows that! But he’s just as opinionated and hypocritical as everyone else.

Totally cool that you're in it for the music. So am I to a certain degree.

But, he's not a hypocrit. I mean, he clearly said he got spammed and morons kept swearing and posting extremist views with the intentions of messing up the comment board. He wanted to have a forum for intelligent conversation and people kept messing it up on purpose. Wouldn't you be upset too? I would...

Yes, I would be upset, but how can you not expect that kind of immature (I won't even call it criticism) response with the controversial tone that he surrounds himself with? So many more high-profile people can find balance in their broadcasts that keep them from dealing with the things that Matthew Good evokes with his prose. And when these people do deal with such instances, they can typically handle it with less emotion and more panache than Matthew can.

Maybe that's the difference between gold records and multi-platinum records?

Who says that showing emotion is a bad thing? Futhermore, how many artists can you say utilize any medium, like a blog, on a continual basis to announce their political and social beliefs? Not many, so I don't think that Matt can be critized for saying what's on his mind. I might not agree with a lot of what Matt says, but I certainly won't criticize him for expressing his opinion. But, if you feel that he can't handle situations the way you would, then that is your opinion and that's ok I guess...

It's just the mannerisms that the ppl use in their comments.... they swear and attack MG pretty viciously... with no respect whatsoever.... MG wouldn't have a problem with it (nor would anyone else) if the comments were made in a responsible manner.

I see your point but most people wouldn't spam with porn links or flood your inbox.

I disagree that this is has much to do at all with the gold or multi-platinum records or any of that crap. The fact is that Matt Good doesn't make huge pushes to sell his records wherever possible so he can make the most $$ possible. He has a lot of different values than a lot, if not most, artists out there. One of his priorities is trying to make people aware of the equality issues and the politics of them out there. But I continually find it funny that this bothers so many people....

I'm not saying that anyone has to disagree or agree with anything that anyone says. My point is that when you make the decision to put yourself up on the soap box of life, you have to expect to have some tomatoes thrown at you once in awhile. These metaphorical fruits can be purveyed in several different ways, and it's unfortunate that spamming and unruly behavior is one of them. However, it seems to be effective. If "I can't handle it" is part of the message you want to relay to people, then by all means, handle it like Matthew Good.

When those "tomatoes" are being thrown at you left, right and center all the time, its a different story.

I dunno. There's a difference between walking away from someone who intelligently disagrees with your point of view and and walking away from malicious intent to embarass and waste your time. I believe that Matt walked away from people wasting his time and don't consider that as cowardly.
