I think "Artificial Intelligence" had more problems with it than just the ending...

If it had ended with him stuck at the bottom of the ocean or whatever, then it would've been a by far better movie. On the whole, I still do like the film, probably one my favorites, but the ending was just so...disjointed

Theres no reason why they are making a remake of 'war of the worlds' worst idea ever.....
