Bhopal Disaster

It's been about 20 years since the crisis at the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal,India. a gas leak at the plant had caused 2000 to die and tens of tousands to be injured. 10 000 more have died since due to the pollution. The pictures were awful; children vomiting and people with their eyes crusted over. Although the factory is now abandoned, there is still thousands of tonnes of waste buried there where people live, play and sleep. Signs are up everywhere saying "This Water Is Not Drinkable".

 

The government says it has plans to build a pipeline for safe drinking water. But why only now? And will it actually be done, or just set aside again? There is also the matter of Union Carbide who gave small compensation to the victims. They owe to the citzens to do more. But what can you expect from a corporation that will always have its own interests put ahead of what's right. The suffering continues...
