Well i don't mean to be TOO harsh, because he does have excellent cinematography and an interesting directorial style. But he screws it up with his scripts.

I find that the commercials for his films contain all of the up-front quirky jokes. But everything else in the movie is completly devoid of emotion. EVERYTHING'S DEADPAN! And deadpan just doesn't work for two hours straight.

It tries to make up for this by being quirky. But it fails at this task as well. Instead it just seems forced and annoying.
