Apparently, Universal is releasing Annabelle on Jan 11th (Today!?) as an e-single (whatever that means)

Just download it from Amnesty... I doubt that there's any difference in quality.

 

Universal might be wise to release a song that isn't available for free elsewhere.

if you look closely, you'll notice that iTunes says that it's being released via Interscope Records, which I think is one of the American arms of Universal. So, that might be a possible explanation.

As for interscope on universal, thats just weird because last time i checked, universal is multinational and wouldnt need to do that

I'd buy it if it was a better quality version on the net. The free one online is sort of muffled. I'm not sure if that's the effect Matt's going for though.

It's just a way to make a few bucks off of the fans who haven't already downloaded it or even heard of it. I've always liked the song. Nothing too impressive, but still pretty good.

If you look around more, you'd be surprised by how many subsidiary companies Universal has around the world that release their records. Some of these labels are used to cater to a specific genre or group. An example would be MapleMusic, which signs Canadian acts and which is part of the Universal group.
