Here's another political compass type thing.

Politics Test

Here's what I got:

You are a

Social Liberal

(78% permissive)

and an...

Economic Liberal

(10% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Socialist

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

This was on Mblog.

On the new test (the Mblog one), i got:

  You are a

Social Moderate

(56% permissive)

and an...

Economic Liberal

(26% permissive)

You are best described as a: Democrat

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

I thought i was more socialist than that.

And i took the political compass test again too see how much i've changed from February. My first score was (-6.25, -4.15). My new score is (-5.88, -4.15). Same libertarian/authoritarian score, but apparently i've become less socialist.

Anarchists are socialists.

Not by any definition I know of.

Yah I agree. However, in a way, The Kwas does have a point. Most anarchists today ( that i have read about) support a lot of state funded institutions, and actually want more reliance on the state, however only long enough to bring everyone up so that we may destroy the state. As it stands right now, if anarchism were to develop from an ideology into practice, it could potentially ( and probably) go horribly wrong.

EDIT: i should say develop in North American society, lets not forget the Kibbutz!

Anarchists are socialists.

Not by any definition I know of.

Anarchy - Society of no rulers.

Socialism - Society where resources are owned and controlled by the public/workers.

Capitalism - Society where the resources and privately owned by individuals.

Since Economic choices affect the general public, capitalism entails "economic rulers".

Therefore, Most schools of Anarchism promote the public/workers owning resources throught decentralized, accountable and directly democratic co-operatives, communes, or syndicates (and generally allocated through a dencentralized planned economy).

It's a myth that anarchists are just against hiearchical government, they are against any social relationships that are built hiearchically, that includes economic relationships.

Yeah. Though, if these anarchists are against the use of state force, it seems rather contradictory that to achieve their desired condition they must use state force... and I've gone cross-eyed.

Not really, for most of them it's just a choice for a lesser evil. It's either having resources publicly owned, yet hiearchically organized, or having resources hiearchically organized AND privately owned. 1/2 is better than 0/2.

In the European tradition, anarchists have always been socialists. In the mid-19th century, the First Socialist International experienced a split between anarchist and statist factions, led by Mikhail Bakunin and Karl Marx respectively (thus the latter group came to be called Marxists). Since the 1850s, "anarchism" has primarily referred to anti-state branch of the socialist movement.

Left/libertarian

Not sure what a libertarian is, so i am off to the old Encarta.

Didn't surprise me, i'm an NDP homeboy... tho on some things, i agree with Social Conservatism, but not nearly enough to support them over anither party.

Economic Left/Right: 3.75

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.05

right libertarian

I'm not surprised that most of are left-libs.that's how people like trudeau and chretien get into office. I was the only right-lib in my political science class aswell.

I'm also not surprised that you got left/lib when you didn't understand the questions. that's how it works where I'm from. If you don't understand politics, just vote liberal!

That is such a biased political compass. It's almost impossible to not get Left/Libertarian status unless you are trying to NOT attain it. Who calls for a new test? I'll find a better one.
That's because most of the questions are loaded in socialisms favor.

half of the answers aren't cut and dry as they make it seem. I like this one.

"It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society."

What the hell does that mean?

"A genuine free market requires restrictions on the ability of predator multinationals to create monopolies."

A genuine free market wouldn't require restrictions.

Therefore, Most schools of Anarchism promote the public/workers owning resources throught decentralized, accountable and directly democratic co-operatives, communes, or syndicates (and generally allocated through a dencentralized planned economy).

by definition anarchists are definitely not socialists. in reality anarchists a lot like jesus; they're either hypocrites or they don't exist. If you "don't believe in rule", what are you doing living in society run by a government or relying on one for survival. if you believe in collective ownership you're jsut a socialist... and a jackass.

people get confused with anarchism because the ideology list goes in a circle, not in a straight line.

That's unfortunate, that where you live they have a 'default' party.

I understood all of the questions, i'd just never heard the word 'libertarian' before.
