found this on some other site and thought it was a cool idea... i find there are a few bands out there that i appreciate what they're doing/did but don't particularly like their music.

k-os

fiery furnaces

mars volta (new cd)

buck 65

led zeppelin

xiu xiu (i do like some of their music but not much)

deftones

u2 (their earlier stuff... the new album just plain blows)

boards of canada

smashing pumpkins

nine inch nails

for example, Rolling Stones... it is a band I dont like but i have a deep respect for them because they are people who have been working all their life making music and enjoying many many fans I know they have

i agree about the stones. i don't really like many of their songs...

janes addiction is another band who have critical respect and in many ways were important in music culture, but i really can't get into them for some reason. i acknowledge that the original lineup had quite a lot of talent.

wow, if you don't enjoy some of those bands, i'm inclined to think you have terrible taste. ;)

see thats the thing, these bands are all pretty much in the genre of music that i like but for various reasons, i can't listen to them. i do however like what they're doing, their originality and in some cases their lyrics as well. its not that i hate these bands.

i'd say that even though its last on that list, nine inch nails is probably the best example of this. i absolutely can't listen to their music but i enjoy their lyrics, like what they're doing, and i also love jonny cash's cover of hurt. its weird i know.

i know what you mean. the fiery furnaces are very good, but very hard to get into. mainly just because the music they come up with can be so strange at times... they've got great pop sensibilities though, and i'm finding that that's my way in.

I agree with the Rolling Stones. I respect them for their longevity, but i don't enjoy their music because, among other things, its quite repetitive. AC/DC too. They had a couple good songs, but then they had to go and make those same exact songs an additional 500 times and call it something different.

rascalz because of their messages and dedication to their heritage/culture/country, as well as their charity work abroad.

limp bizkit because they are so terrible, yet so rich and famous. how did they do it? there is hope for all of us.
