The Phantom Tollbooth

This is one of the best children's books ever. On my list, it's right behind A Series of Unfortunate Events.

 

So anyway, this kid named Milo (awesome name...) is very very very bored with his life. One day, when he comes home from school, he notices a package. Inside is a tollbooth. Using his car, he ventures into the lands beyond, headed to Dictionopolis. He has many adventures and misadventures, and upon arriving at Dictionopolis, he is given a short sentence ("I am"), with an additional penalty of six million years in jail.

 

Fortunately for Milo, he escapes and is set upon a quest to return the Princesses Rhyme and Reason to their rightful thrones in Wisdom.

 

 

Er...anyway. Read this book. It's absolutely fantastic.

I don't consider Harry Potter children's books. Possibly because of the amount of Hermione/Snape fan fiction I read.

I read this book a long time ago... if i remember right... it WAS ENJOYABLE! My grade 4 teacher introduced it to me ;)

Hey dont diss Mr. Penny, he is possibly my favourite teacher of all time. He was a great guy. I wish i was in grade 4 again ;)
