Was holidaying in Whistler in 2001 and the video for "Load Me Up" came on thought it was brilliant, and bought BM upon returning to the States. Incidentaly, the record store I bought it from had the Canadian version and it wasn't labeled as 'import' thought it odd, but lucked out cuz 'I Miss New Wave' is perhaps my favorite song and would have been pissed if I got 'Deep Six' instead

I'd have to thank the late, great Much Music for my first time.

As would I... with special mention going to Direct TV for carrying the channel for us poor, music deprived US citizens.

I saw the "Strange Days" video and though it was amazing. I think I downloaded the song or something then forgot about the band until I saw the video for "The Future is X-Rated" and I felt compelled to dig deeper and really get into the band. Lucky for me the US release of Beautiful Midnight came not long after this, and I was hooked ever since.

The thread title makes it look like this should be in the sticky situations forum...lol

I think the first time I was exposed to Matt's music was when I heard my dad playing this song really loud on the stereo which I thought was really beautiful. That song turned out to be Apparitions. Over the years I heard a bunch of his singles but didn't really become a serious fan untill just before Avalanche came out and I bought all his CDs and I've been a huge fan ever since.

Actually this is similar to how I became a Tragically Hip fan.

My dad playing their songs on the stereo.

The first time I heard Change of Season was while driving from Nashville to Vancouver, and I was dead tired and pretty much asleep. I kind of woke up to the part where he's saying "miles, miles, miles..." and almost shit myself.

Then I listened to the song and I was like...hey...this is a cool song.

who cares

Sounds like a late fan to me!

My first TRUE exposure to the Matthew Good Band was seeing 'Everything Is Automatic' debut on the Muchmusic Top 30 Countdown back in September of 1997. BUT, I might have heard 'Symbolistic White Walls' on the radio prior to that; I can't remember.

speaking of that.

how did EIA only peak at #6?!

Apparitions is on the US verison of Beautiful Midnight.

The 1st time I heard Matt Good was in 1997-98, when I heard a few singles on the CFNY (Edge 102.1). Being near the border of Canada had its advantages.

yes indeed, that is a very good thing about living so close to the canadian border, the awesome music. then again i have to deal with crap like nickelback too....

I saw Sybolistic White Walls on Going Coastal on Much Music at my friend's house (who lived in the town and had cable OoooOOOoOOOoo) way back when it was first put out and I was only like 10. I loved all his stuff from then on out and bought Underdogs as my first CD a few years later when my dad bought our first CD player (heheh three cheers for being a hick and behind the times)
