....i think with this emo thing that's been going on the past few years there has been intense over saturation and it's not the music that gets people up in arms it's the fans.

when you see a cult of kids with black hair gelled to the side to cover their eye, wearing girl pants, and extremely tight sweaters whining because people make fun of them, alot of people think it's ridiculous.

what's more disheartening is when you see bands playing to these people.

If you don't like the music it's a complete matter of taste, but if you're really going to say a band like boys night out sucks take a listen to their music first and pretend they don't have a legion of arrogant 12 year old babies going to their shows.

the basic point here is i don't think people listen to music as much as they listen to the hype.

do i listen to boys night out? no.

More like 15 year old girls but close enough.

The emo scene is so overexposed right now it's sickening. The entire genre nowadays is based upon appearance alongside relationship angst and despair. Don't get me wrong, I know who "real emo" bands are: Rites Of Springs, Fugazi, Circle Takes The Square and etc but I still strongly believe that tripe like Boys Night Out are emo as well.

And I hate all those MySpace kids out there who base their entire lives on adapting the emo/goth culture when they don't even know what the hell it really is.

Point is, that Boys Night Out are a watered down emo band with forced emotion; just like any of the emo garbage that has been in the mainstream over the past 3 years.

I'm not even sure what falls into the whole "emo" category. It use to be where people who dressed odd and whined all the time about being depressed were angsty or sometimes goths in extreme cases. Is emo the same thing only they dress like nerds??

it dawned on me yesterday that a lot of matthew good's music would be considered emo by todays standards. especially the pre mgb demos.

seems like anything that conveys emotion could be considered emo.

i was at a coffee house last night. most of the stuff going on was good rock music, not even really coffee house style. i liked it. until... a guy with lots of piercings, torn up pants and a sweatervest looking outfit goes up. reads poetry. [insert the audience's suffering]

"as i was slowly ripping the blade across my wrists, the blood ran down my arms. and the darkness of my dark soul cried out to the death of my heart. my heart, bleeding bloody blood as i died painfully, in a pool of blood..."

or something like that

ahh the scensters...

this evening i went downtown to meet some people at a local bar/venue. the show before i got there was an emo show, so everyone came out looking the same. when i finally found the people i was looking for, we stood around the parking lot. then one emo kid punched another emo kid and he fell to the ground, knocked out. then a car came wanted to go where the knocked out emo kid was, so the rest of the scensters picked him up, he threw up, and then they all went to a different part of the parking lot. they the guy who was knocked out started laughing, and asked the guy to punch him again.

then a water line exploded and water shot up 20 ft in the air. and i laughed and laughed. ;)

Alright, what do you want to call them? Post-hardcore? No difference since "true emo" falls along the same category as the independent hardcore scene.
