i know that matty went to an arts school and all that shiz, and i've seen his recent drawings/paintings/whatever he's blogged, but is there other stuff out there on the web in existence? or has he ever done any work for the liner notes of any of his albums? i don't own them all so i am unsure.

the paintings aren't recent and if you read the acknowledgements in each and every album, he personally thanks each artist (if applicable) for their work on his album art.

The picture he's using on his blog was painted by a fan. Not a self-portrait.

As far as I know, the cover art for "Broken" is the only time he ever used one of his paintings in the linear notes.

i have the eye for it, and i can picture it in my head... but when it comes to actually drawing it, proportionally it comes out all wrong.

When I used to draw, I'd try to make something look correct, but instead it would come out looking like abstract art. So then I decided to just draw abstract, but then it would come out looking like crap.

Anyone can draw with practice. You just have to learn to use the other side of your brain and look at images as lines.

 

Creating art from inside you is completely different though.
