AC/DC - "Back In Black"

Fuck that.

Don't be hating the AC/DC.

So you want me to support a band that has made the same album over and over for the past 25 years? A simplistic hard rock band that only writes about chicks, thrills, cars, and balls. Nothing more. How did they manage to pick up two clowns who sounded exactly the same anyway?

if you think bon scott and brian johnson sound the same... well, you're an idiot. and it may be true that they've released basically the same album for 25 years, but back in black is the album that they've copied. the pinnacle, if you will.

Back In Black sounded no different than early albums like High Voltage or Dirty Deeds; they just scored a huge break with every single hit on that album.

You don't think it was a coincidence that they hired Brian Johnson as their replacement? They didn't want to lose their wide audience that they had at the time so obviously they'd pick up a man that sounded identical to Bon Scott.

Yes, I'm an idiot for stating the obvious. I assume you consider Back In Black one of the greatest records of all time. I mean it sold 19 Million albums, how couldn't it be?! Don't forget to put your Back In Black t-shirt and head to the Beer Store tonight to pick up kegs of alcohol and party it up with your friends. You really rock man, you fucking rock.

way to basically repeat what you said before.

i find it funny that you didn't mention anywhere in the above statement that AC/DC's music was bad.

you have this really weird anti-consumerism vibe (which in itself isn't weird) but the fact that you're taking it out on AC/DC of all bands seems a bit strange.

The did make the same album over and over, agreed, but there is no "fuck that" when it comes to a question of someones personal favourite album, you have no idea why that person loves that album so don't assume anything. Someone may hate the bands or albums you've listed but do you care? Probably not, as you shouldn't. It's fine to discuss, nothing wrong with that, but don't say someone is completely wrong when its a simple matter of personal taste, no one mocked your choices, let it be.

I never said that the person shouldn't like the album. If he honestly enjoys the album, then by all means listen to the disc. BUT when we are on a discussion about the BEST ALBUM of the 80s & AC/DC comes up, then one would know that there is truly something wrong and my "fuck that" response was very, very appropriate.

again i will state that music is subjective and each has his/her own opinion. The subject of the thread is what is your (meaning everyone's) pick for best album of the 80's > there's nothing that says your opinion has more weight than anyone else's, you can stand by whatever you want becuase MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE, and no one is wrong in their pick, case closed.

CASE OPEN!

Stating that there is something wrong AND being wrong are two totally different meanings.

If music is primarily subjective, then why bother having discussions at all if people are going to act that opinions are more of importance as opposed to validity & the actual substance?

I'm going to play some Yahoo Chess. Maybe I'll be back later.

why bother having discussions? becuase its interesting to see what albums people like. You talk about validity, what makes your choices more valid thean anyone else's? Actual substance is again subjective, how can you judge it? If you say that Back in Black sucks (not that I am a fan of the album or even the band, although it was a pretty clutch album for them to make follwing the death of their singer, not many bands continue on after something like that), why? because you don't like it? Fine, but again your opinion has no more weight than anyone else's. Everyone stated their favourite album, as did you, but you are the only one who criticized someone else's choice. Did anyone ask you about your thoughts on that particular album or that person's choice? I don't think so. What makes you an authority? you will prob reply to this saying that you are allowed an opinion and the like, but does it mean that should you always give it? Just because everyone has a right to an opinion doesn't mean that he or she should always express it, especially in a case where there is no right on wrong answer. If you don't like someone's choice, congratualtions but nobody cares. This thread is not a discussion of the merits of ACDC's work, just a simple discussion of albums made in the 1980's that people enjoy. If you want to start an anti-Back in Black thread go right ahead. In case you missed this I'll repeat it for the last time.

MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE

Objective.

This is the one thing I don't like about many I Mother Earth fans I've run into, musically I find many of them are too arrogant. What makes music good isn't neccessarily how complex or dis-similar it is. It's how good the music is to the listener, for some the above is exactly what they look for and that's cool, but not everyone has the same view of what music should be.

Exactly. By the way, Mrs, Jesus why do you insist on butting in on something that has nothing to do with you? Nobody asked you. Focus on the issue instead of attacking the people involved.

BTW, if you could please refrain from the using the word "retards" in such a derogatory way, I've worked with mentally disabled individuals and I find It quite offensive. Thank You.

i didn't ask who you've worked with, and i have a retarded step-brother. woo hoo.

i know you didn't ask but I thought maybe you could exhibit a little compassion, apparently i was wrong. Act like king shit if you want, just becuase you spend your life on an internet message bored doesn't mean you are some kind of divine authority. "I'll butt in whenver I damn please" = welcome to the interent world where certain people try to act like they know everything and only offer unwarranted opinions becuase they are too chicken shit to talk that way to people in real life (not saying that is you directly, as i don't know you or care to know you, but it seems to occur a lot and becuase you call people "retards", i feel its fair to group you into that category" now that's an attack, you asked for it.

Checkmate.

Wow, driftinginfluence is a real douche. But of course I'd be too chickenshit to tell him in real-life.

Moral of the Story: Never, ever take the internet seriously. Why get worked up about what someone who lives thousands of miles away thinks of you?

Oh, and Dan, you really need to hear Joy Division. I should upload some.

i am a douche becuase i'm not afraid to speak my mind? you prob would be too chicken shit to tell me in real life. Replying to a comment is not getting worked up, if i was getting worked up, i'd prob care, i just hate idiots, i'm sorry, and people who use the internet to say shit when they don't need to just because the opportunity is there, oh and i hate music snobs and people who think just becuase they listen to the smiths or the pixies or the cure (three great bands i might add) they are somehow most musically educated even though many of them don't play music or even have a sense of the work that goes into it, but i digress...

please continue to bash me, i find it hilarious.

we should really start another forum that bashes me, i woudl be the first the sign up!

Umm, you're getting really worked up in explaining how you're not worked up.

And I think you missed the whole point of my post. Who cares? Let it go. People disagree with you. Maybe they're idiots, maybe they're not. Stop taking everything so seriously. The douche comment was me taking the piss actually. I wanted to see if you would get worked up, and you did.

So, let's stop the moral superiority, step down from the soapbox, and let's run off and get married.
