Across The Universe - Rufus Wainwright

yeah that one's gold. so's his version of "hallelujah"

jeff buckley's hallelujah is more gratifying.

i like the Pearl Jam cover of Hide Your Love Away so much that i often hear them singing it, when i'm trying to remember the lyrics.

Never Let Me Down Again- Smashing Pumpkins

i hate annie lennox, except for her cover of Waiting in Vain (Bob Marley) now that one goes over well.

Nine Inch Nails - Metal. I don't know who does the original. I do now, Gary Numen. It has just only now inspired me to lsiten to more Gary Numen. Similarly NINs cover of Dead Souls made me want to hear more Joy Division, but the Get Down, Make Love cover didn't make me want to listen to more Queen. Only getting AIDS could make me want to listen to more Queen.

Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night

Pearl Jam - Last Kiss

Landslide is so good, and Last kiss is too.

do you ever find that you PREFER some covers to the original, not just that they're good but actually better?

I don't know if you're asking me directly, but yes, i have found that, with a whole lot of songs

that's what makes a good cover in my opinion.

Alien Ant Farm rocked "Smooth Criminal!"
