I Hate To Beat A Dead Horse....

Recommended Posts

Remember last month when I said that Universal pressured Matt Good to record Alert Status Red, and Matt came on to say that didn't happen, and it eventually degenerated into Matt and Scot fighting?

In all three cases I ultimately returned to the studio to add material to recordings that I viewed as complete. In the case of White Light, I believe that it was extremely destructive to the initial intent of the recording and, ultimately, did nothing to further sales.

You see? I was right.

He didn't say ASR was one of the songs they force him to play. In his reply on our forums he said he wasn't pressured to write ASR, it was one of his original songs.

I should also clarify that Alert Status Red existed prior to Universal asking me to record more material. And, as has happened in the past, they accepted what I offered them. It happens to 99% of the musicians on the planet, even those that many here would think untouchable.

So umm, no ;). But he did have to add material.

I still maintain I heard him on the Fox saying the exact opposite, but I digress.

That's why indie labels will eventually destroy majors.

Soon after MSI got booted off of Elektra, they released a live albuma nd an EP on their own Uppity Cracker label, and made more money form those releases than they made from their entire time with the label.

They said that signing to a major is like buying a lottery ticket. You're basically throwing away your money.
