to get Matt to play in the states? Particularly Indiana? Seriously though I've never seen any shows listed in the states. Anybody know of any shows he's done here? I mean I know he disagrees with our government, who doesn't, but all we can do is vote and as most of the world has seen that seems to have no power here...

Your state has to join Canada as the 11th province. Then I'm sure he'll tour there.

i'm sure if you offer to pay for matt and his band's work visas, find a promoter to pay his show rate and fulfill his technical rider and their travel and lodging needs, it wouldn't be too hard to convince him.

 

 

 

 

the main reason why the east coast shows were cancelled were because of the outrageous expenses that go along with performing in a differnt country.

If you're going to do a tour of a country, it's undeniably useful to have a supporting label in that country to provide financial support for the tour. At the moment, Matt has no US label, so any tour expenses would have to be covered out of his own pocket.

 

He did play a show in Buffalo last fall, but it was a one-off.

 

If he decides to do the whole solo acoustic thingy, I think there's an outside shot of seeing a few US dates. But I think that's only if he really enjoys the tour.

 

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for him to show up in Indiana, though. If he ever does US shows, it will undoubtedly only be a handful of shows in specific cities, not a full-scale national tour.

hahaha good luck with that, considering he doesn't tour that often anymore you'd have a tough time getting to play in the US

yeah I never really considered it a possibility... it would just be nice... and as far as the mention that my state would have to "join Canada as the 11th province" Sounds good to me.. Me and my wife were considering joining Canada as it is..can you blame us?

not in the least....our country welcomes freeloaders from all kinds of countries...that's what makes us great. I mean I love having to work a minumum wage job because some imported minority is getting all the police jobs without any training whatsoever... It's stupendoud really.

Maybe Matt should consider joining the Canadian indie record label Arts & Crafts. They represent bands like Stars, Feist, and Broken Social Scene. I checked out their tour page and they're all touring the US like crazy. I think Broken Social Scene is going to be on Jimmy Kimmel on Monday and then on Conan O'Brien on Tuesday. There seems to be a Canadian indie music fever in the states. That's excellent.

The trick is that it's not entirely the label - those are all part of the same group of folks. Feist and two of the members of Stars have at some point been part of the Broken Social Scene collective. Also, Feist is now signed to Interscope in the States, so she's got that extra market power behind her.

 

Canadian indie music fever = post Arcade Fire curiosity. Canada is the next Seattle. ;)
