No, i'm not a fan of indie, i'm a fan of music.

No, i do not hate it when a band becomes popular.

I have 30 favourite bands, and 16 of them are indie. Indie music is usually unrestrained, and they're unafraid of new ground, and that's what i love about them.

i know too many kids that are fucking idiots like this.

They all loved the Used but dropped them when the became popular. They're the kind of kids that are snobby and they're just a different kind of prep. They'll hold the fact that you haven't heard of their favourite bands over your head, thinking they're so much better.

I know too many like that as well. I think they are the worst kind of prep.

Usually I don't mind but for the case of Panic! At the Disco, I found about them a few months before their cd came out and really liked them. Now that they're becoming big on tv and radio and I'm seeing little emo thirteen year olds listening to them on the bus, singing their lyrics and quoting them. It really makes it hard to listen to their music without thinking about that. So I guess I fall into that category in some cases.

i used to love alexisonfire until they got big. now i wont even go to their concerts because of all the bitch 15 and 16 year old that think they are the shit. wearing decking themselves out in ramones t shirts and ponk hair and shit. they make me sick. they dont understand its about the music not how cool you can look by being at an alexisonfire show.

define indie music.

I suppose people should differentiate between the sound characterized by the use of thick-sounding synthesizers (a la Hot Hot Heat) and underground/local music that isn't signed to a major label.

Fact: the word "indie" used to refer specifically to independent music... a lot of these independent bands (it developed in the late 80's in England and the U.S.) developed a similar sound characterized by the use of thick-sounding synth keys in what would have otherwise been rock music, and people started using the word to describe bands that carried that type of sound, whether they had a record contract or not.

so because kids dress a certain way that means they don't understand that it's about the music? did you ever stop to think that maybe they dress that way because they LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS? wow, that's a concept, eh? wearing clothes you like, because you like them? i wore ramones t-shirts when i was 16, and i wore black lipstick and i'm 28 now and i have red and black streaks in my hair and 0 gauge holes in my ears, does that mean that i don't understand that it's about the music? am i too busy trying to look cool at the alexisonfire show i'm not going to?

in conclusion, YEAH WHAT SATURNINE SAID.

that better have been sarcasm davidtwatbird, because you'd be pathetic if it wasn't.

But i know the girls you're naming and they are annoying. The kind of kids who will stand on the edge of the pit pushing people in it and then running away and then telling their friends how x-core they are.

Mrs Jesus, maybe you'd understand if you were my age. They sell Ramones shirts at Bluenotes and Thrifty's now. They're a brand now. You can tell real fans from the prostitots by looking at the back. If it says "Hey ho, lets go," kick them in the twat.

i'm a huge fan of indie music, but i don't hate it when they become popular. i love it. i think everyone in the world deserves to hear them.

i don't hate the bands because other people like them, i hate them because they get overexposed and hyped beyond reasonable measures.

and you can always tell the posers by how new their shirts are. real zeppelin/floyd/metallica/ramones fans have faded shirts from the 80's. posers bought theirs last week from hot topic (or similar clone stores)

that makes absoultely no sense at all. so if i want a led zeppelin shirt, i'm a poser unless i find a "vintage" one? i'm still a fan.... a poser though? just because my shirt would be new? nuts, i should've got my mom to buy me one while i was in the womb, so i could show how much of a real fan i am.

fuck that. these are all things that no one should care about. i've never understood why it's important to separate "real" fans from the "fake" ones. just listen to the music and enjoy it. who cares what anyone else does or says.
