most of us here listen to lots of music. does anyone have a favorite producer or two?

mine would be:

flood (NIN, nick cave & the bad seeds, smashing pumpkins)

steve albini (nirvana, pixies, dirty three)

dave botrill (tool, i mother earth, king crimson)

and runner up:

ken andrews (blinker the star, pete yorn, year of the rabbit)

Steve Albini worked Fuck World Trade up so sexual, and really brought out their classical influences, which were really buried on all of their other albums, and he did a good job on In Utero, even if Nirvana themselves weren't happy with it.

For the most part, i think producers are overrated, but they are essential sometimes. If a band / asrtist has a compplete vision for the work, it could be pointless, but i think more times than not, it's good to go with one.
