Canadian reality TV goes political

27/01/2006 12:00:00 AM

TORONTO (KP International) Before new Prime Minister-elect Stephen Harper even had a chance to finish celebrating, Canadians are already preparing the search for "The Next Great Prime Minister."

In contrast to the usual reality TV fodder, five promising young Canadians will grace the airwaves in what is being described as "a head-to-head political showdown."

Instead of singing, there'll be public speaking; in place of immunity challenges, there'll be debates; and replacing rude judges (ie. Simon Cowell) four former Prime Ministers Kim Campbell, Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney, and John Turner - will pick the winners.

The champion will not only receive $50,000, but also a 6-month paid internship split between The Dominion Institute, Magna and the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs.

All runners up will receive $10,000 and 3-month internships with the same organizations. The hour-long special show airs February 4 on CTV.

i dont know why they didnt try and get Jean Chertian, i mean, he was in power for a good 10 years, he would know what a good leader/PM needs.

because chretien has gone crazy since he left office. Actually he started going crazy about a year before he left office
