Good News For Star Wars Geeks

Recommended Posts

The original versions of the holy trinity (Star Wars, Empire and Jedi) are coming to DVD in September. No CGI, no redubbing of Boba Fett and Lando shoots first.

According to starwars.com:

In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie and, as bonus material, the theatrical edition of the film. That means you'll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983.

Check it out.

Ah, doesn't matter to me. I find the Special Editions to be far better. Personally, while I really like George Lucas, I think he's just double dipping as they say. Let's face it the guy's one hell of a businessman.

I have the special edition on VHS and because of that I never intended to purchase them on DVD. The original (yet remastered) version on DVD is something that I would actually want to buy. I also have no intention of ever getting the prequel trilogy on DVD.

I'd rather spend my money on something that doesn't give me ulcers induced by rage.

I have:

Original VHS trilogy

remastered Original VHS trilogy

SW1 burned

SW2 DVD

SW3 burned

And soon I'll have clone wars burned

And I thought the live action TV series and an animated series were both in the works?

Not sure if anyone has brought this up in the last few posts, and I won't check because this place is full of dink heads, but I'm told by a very reliable source that these new old releases still have Hayden Christiansen as a ghost at the end of Jedi, and there is no option to see the origianl. Cn anyone confirm that my disgust is justified?
