The Shwa

Recommended Posts

then you're in the wrong thread ;)

So any good/bad shwa stories today...I can't think of any except I have a stray cat on my porch that my brother decided to take care of...all the thing does is eat and sleep in the sun.

Is that suppose to be an insult? We know Oshawa sucks and is filled with rednecks and soccer-moms. That's kind of why we're making fun of it.

I effing hate that construction on the new Stevenson/401 interchange...and apparently it takes 5 years to build a bridge. It's added 5-10 minutes to my commute to the GO station daily. I need to move...

I know, eh?

Yesterday I was stuck in Bloor-Yonge station for a good 20 minutes while a medical emergency unfolded 20 feet away from me. I supposed 20 minutes ain't so bad when your commute is an hour and twenty minutes in the first place.

...It's added 5-10 minutes to my commute...

5-10 MINS!!!! THAT's SOOOOOOO BAD.

geez, makes my commute seem so long.

"added" meaning 5-10 minutes + the usual 1hr each way. The main point is that it is pointless bullshit why it takes extra time to go 50 feet because of the stupid setup for the temporary intersection they setup.

And nothing can top my worst experience...I catch the 5:13 one day and the train experiences brake problems (at least 6 different times) on my 5 stop ride home. What should've been a 50 minute trip, turns into a 3+ hour trip and I could've caught any number of trains after the 5:13 and still made it home before then. On top of that, there was no reason why GO couldn't have switched us after the first problem to one of the other 6 trains that passed us while the brakes were locked (twice at a station). go GO Transit.

ok i have a true oshawa story.

like 35 years ago there was a huge fire there. still the biggest to this day. my dad started it. he was out with a buddy shooting off fireworks. his buddy went inside, and he lit the last one, and dropped the match in the field. guess what! the whole field lit on fire, trucks came from everywhere to try to put out the blaze. it was huge, there are only like 10 people that know it was him. until now. if u live there or around, ask your folks, see if they remember.

Yesterday on the train ride home...

wait, first some background info so y'all get the joke...everyday there's about 10-20 people that run off the GO train and into the parking lot so they can be the first ones out of the lot. Losers!!!

Anyways, I'm leaning on the rails by the corner-garbage-can as all the seats were taken...and there's this 2 fat (fat) chicks that end up blocking the stairwell. The 2nd one barely makes it to the stair before she drops to take a seat. Then some people want by so she has to get up...anyways, as we're approaching Oshawa, they decide to start making fun of the runners saying things like "those people are stupid, running to their cars just to save a few minutes", etc... then I hear one of them say "I would never run to my car".

I started to laugh inside as I thought to myself "you CAN'T run to your car" and I almost said it out loud.

I know I'm cruel, but I have a hate-on for fat people...I live by the Denis Leary code...if I can't see my dick, I stop eating ;)

I went rollerblading to the Beach @ Simcoe yesterday and it was fairly nice. I must say the best of Oshawa must've been out yesterday...and the Lake didn't stink. So major plus's for the usual dirty 'shwa.

Every city/town/hole in the wall has the same street names. Every place has a Main St, an Ontario St, etc...

Unless you're a street history specialist, how would you know that Oshawa wasn't the first to use these?

Back on topic, I don't have any 'shwa stories today, so I figured I'd ask Kyle where in the 'shwa he has the pleasure of calling home?

I'm down at Park & Philip Murray and have been between Park & Simcoe and south of Wentworth my whole life, hooray for the south end.

Toronto was the first because Toronto existed before Oshawa. Seriously.

P.S. There is no Main Street or Ontario Street in Toronto. Well, downtown Toronto, at the least. Looking at city maps of London (where I'll be living next year) is annoying because I see stuff like Adelaide and King and I think, "Oh, I know where that is..." when I don't.
