Love 'em or hate 'em?

I'm usually in favour of the originals, but if a cover is done well then it's got to get some credit. My favourite covers would be RHCP doing Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer' and Holly McNarland doing Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight'.

Yep.

Covers are only good if they bring something different to the table, such as turning a softer of more poppy sing into a rock song.

I can't really think of my favorite right now, but I agree with Kumquat about Holly Mcnarland doing 'In the Air Tonight'.

i think both are pretty cool...the nin one is well creppy, and very fun to listen to...while johnny sang it when he knew he was dieing...and he brought a certain wistful acceptance of things and regret to the song which i like

limpbizkit- Behind Blue Eyes

That song is a perfect example of why cover songs usually suck ass!! Much like me singing it in kareoke, Limpbizkit butcher it! I have heard a couple good covers in my life though.

Foo Fighters "Baker Street"

Jimi Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower"

Pearl Jam "Rockin in the Free World" (only live, its not on an album)

MGB "Enjoy the Silence"

Smashing Pumpkins "Landslide"

There might be one or 2 more, but that's good enough.
