Protesting An Anti-protesting Law

Recommended Posts

i actually sort of agree with not protesting military funerals. maybe they should be done at a different thime, or a block away from the funeral locale. it is very disrespectful to the dead, military or not. i think the onbe year in prison for doing so is a bit much, but americans are notorious for their harsh penalties.

I kind of disagree with protesting at funerals in general.

Here's a good rule: If you decide to protest anyone's funeral, you waive your right to not have your ass kicked.

EDIT: I should have read the article all the way through (i talked about the Patriot Guard, but they are mentioned in the article)

Still, I have to say, if i was at the funeral of a military relative of mine and those batshit-insane Phelpses showed up, it would take a lot of willpower to not seriously wound them.

i appreciate the message the are trying to get across but they would get much more positive press if they did it in a respectful manner. i hate groups or individuals that ruin (even further) the image of protesting. protesters are stereotyped as young adult leftists and/or hippies and/or college/university students who start fights un masse for a stupid cause. this is rarely ever true and it sucks for those who participate in normal, peaceful, civil and respectful protests.

Ideally, this law shouldn't even have to exist. People should just have the common decency and respect not to protest at somebody's funeral.

It's not protesting that I have a problem with; I fully support the right to protest. But protesting, with hateful and insensitive slogans such as these , at somebody's funeral is way, way over the line.

So let me get this straight; you agree with them but not how they're doing it?

Ah hate mongers, without them there wouldn't be much to talk about.

I disagree with the Phelps' organization completely, and I also agree that this law shouldn't have to exist...but it does. I just found rather ironic that they would protest a anti-protest law.

I wonder if there is a GodHatesFlorida site now?
