The Selling-out Of Nelly Furtado

Recommended Posts

I used to be a fan of Nelly Furtado's, especially her last album "Folklore". She was a nice light rock/folky singer, and pretty damn cute too. So i was shocked when i first saw the "Promiscious" video with her doing some sex-a-holic rap/Top 40 crap with Justin Timberlake bobbin' around in the background.

How fucking bullshit. Now with her new album called, ahem, "Loose", she is crap just like all the other hoes on MTV. What a shame. And i thought that pop album Jewel did was bad...

She says she's going back to her roots, because she grew up listening to hiphop. Not sure that makes sense, but whatever.

Not a fan of hers, but I don't think it can be considered selling out (don't like that term anyways) when she was already a pop singer who's sold a gazillion albums.

FOR FUCK SAKES! EVERYONE SELLS OUT!

And this is Nelly Furtado! It's weird, it's different, it's HER.

I'm sick of everyone saying that everyone sells out. Seriously, if you were in their position, wouldn't you sell out?

I love Nelly Furtado. I'd be her man whore. I think she's really talented.

I dunno, the girl can sing. I'm not too big on her style change but truth be told, it's a friggin catchy song which is actually not as annoying as some of her older stuff. So it's all good I suppose. Sure, she's sexed herself up, sex sells. But I don't think her change in musical style is selling out if it's what she wants to do.

So acting like a whore & calling her album "Loose" is going back to her roots? She had hip-hop elements in her other albums, but i mean WTF she now has all these backup dancers & shit.

People getting PO'd about the term "selling out". Ok, well what if one day Matt Good started only making songs that sounded like Nickelback & Simple Plan with some rap beats mixed in with lots of half-naked hoes in his videos & he went around with all this bling around his neck?

I'm just saying the Nelly of now is a complete 180 from her past stuff. She's gone for the money & it worked.

Well wouldn't you sell out for money? I sure as hell would.

And she's not acting like a whore.

i dont consider working with prime producers like timbaland selling out. i think folklore was a step in the right direction, but it wasn't executed very well because she wanted to bring her fans along for the ride. that didnt happen. she did end up alienating a lot of her following. if she wanted to make a change, i dont think it should've been done so drastically.

I never liked Nelly Furtado. If she was really "like a bird" she would fly into a glass window and die.

ha

if that didn't sound like something i would say, it probably wouldn't be the best post ever.

it's time for me to admit that i love you, whoreshine.
