I'm Coming To Canada!

Recommended Posts

Yes friends, the day has finally come and I'll be visiting your country soon. I'll be staying in Toronto but I plan on travelling around as well. I'll most likely fly over on August 6th or 7th and stay for about a month.

What's your job? To tell me about all the places I must go to and of course if there're any worthy live shows.

I'll be waiting... ;)

Come to Ottawa! Its Canada's capital. Spend the day downtown & see the Parliment Buildings, Byward Market, Rideau Canal, & have a delicious Beavertail (not actually made of beavers hehe). yum!

Also check out Toronto, its a beautiful city if you can avoid the poor homeless on the street-corners. Tons to do there.

Montreal is also nice.

Glad to hear you're getting out of that dangerous situation in your country for awhile, hope u have a good time!

You do have your way with words, I like it. Exciting, eh? To be honest, not that much...but this is the reason why I'm not a travel agent. I suppose the proximity to the mountains is a big selling feature, if you like to hike and stuff.

If you're flying into Toronto, a bus trip to Calgary isn't really possible, unlike going to Ottawa and Montreal. You'd likely have to fly there, since it's across 2 different time zones.

As for Toronto, go to a Jays game... I dunno if you like sports, but I went to one last weekend and it kicked ass. Plus see the CN Tower...there's a glass floor you can stand on.

As for Ottawa...yeah, parliament buildings, byward market, canal, tons of museums...

I looked at a map of Canada this morning, I really had no idea it's so damn big.

Anyway, how many hours would it take me to go to Montreal/Ottawa from Toronto? Do you have a good train there or is it better to take a bus? Are there any other cities near Toronto that are worth checking out?

In terms of Toronto, it has excellent city transportation, it has a subway, and a giant number of buses. There's also the GO train that runs from Niagara to Toronto, so you could go see Niagara Falls, hit a casino up etc.. Even come to Burlington! It's about 30-45 mintues from Toronto.

Yess.. Come to Ottawa!

And distance wise, Montreal is about 2 hrs from Ottawa and Ottawa is around 5 from Toronto. Both Ottawa and Toronto have great public transit systems (buses, trains and stuff).

Niagara Falls is certainly worth checking out (I guess its about an hour to an hour and a half from Toronto).

In Toronto, you can do all the typical tourist-y stuff. Walking around downtown, CN Tower, Museum if you're into that. You can always go to Wonderland, or Ontario place. And of course Niagra Falls, as mentioned.

And there's me, of course.

if your going to hit toronto, try to make a trip down to Niagra Falls just to take a wine tour.

as for ottawa, it might be fun to rent a bike an go around the bike paths around town.

Shiri, Toronto to Montreal is about 61/2 hours. Toronto to Ottawa is about 4 hours. Give or take a bit, and how fast you or the bus driver drives, etc.

Whenever someone I know from out of town comes here, I make sure to do all that tourist stuff because otherwise I'd never usually do it (CN tower, etc) and it's actually kind of fun for me, even though I live here.
