I know this is an obvious choice, but the lyrics are romantic in nature

Really, I think the most "romantic" type things he did was on the Broken Demo. It's not romantic, but very often relationship based.

Matt is definatly a romantic. He expresses it in a different way that say Don Juan but a romantic non the less. A man of passion!! And passion is romantic.

And the one line from The Rat Who Would Be King:

The way he sings it gives it some pretty sick emotion.

 

It's Been a While Since I Was Your Man is one of his few love related song without any vengance in it... at least as far as I can hear.

i've been thinking about this question for years, and i have come to the conclusion that mg does not do "romantic" songs.

 

"fearless" is about it.

It all depends on what your definition of 'romantic' is. Some songs for me just have one line or a couple of words that trigger some sort of 'romantic' feeling inside me. Even the feel of some songs is romantic. Like 'Tripoli' for some reason just triggers a certain feeling inside me, I can't explain it, but it is romantic to me if I consider a certain interpretation of it. Could just be me!!

It's not intentionally romantic as far as lyrics go, but I think Dusk has a romantic feel to it. The melody perhaps. If we're talking lyrically, I think Mercy Misses You has some romance in it and As Long As You're Mine.

Matt has many romantic songs, but the thing about the way he writes about romance is that it's vastly different from the usual drivel we see.

It's dark & emotive & often not overly apparent that the song is indeed romantic, and just as often laced withdouble meanings.

 

Matt is a true wordsmith & the way he writes about romance is just like the way he writes about everything, somewhat cryptic & totally unique. Totally matthew Good.

Wow! Thanx soo much! I have never heard this song before!The part where he sings "you like the city nights and different peoples faces....no one knows you like I do" doesn't even sound like him....or at least it sounds like he has a cold! ;)
