I'll have to check out this Shins album, because so far it seems like the Modest Mouse album is the only worthwhile one released so far this year.

i'm holding out to buy it first day, that and the new Bright Eyes.

 

It's so early to start talking about album of the year, but The Ataris have got me by the balls right now. I don't think it's album of the year sharp, but i can't stop listening to that, or Kaddisfly for that matter. I'm looking forward to MG, Dark Tranquility, Nine Inch Nails, Leftover Crack, Dimmu Borgir, the Used and Drop Dead, Gorgeous.

 

Apparently the new Blanche is out, but i haven't heard it.

Bought it for $10 CAD new and it's great. Little Motel and Parting of the Sensory are standouts. However it could end on a stronger note.

it is so full sounding compared to the rest of their albums. i think it is nice that even though johnny fucking marr joined the band, that is still sounds like Brock

Definitely my favorite MM album so far, really liking it. Far better than some of the other hyped releases so far.

What's so bad about Johnny Marr? Also, WWDBTS is a great album. The first 7 or 8 tracks are amazing. The rest is still good but not quite as good as the first so many.

I find the latter half of the album has the most standout songs. With the exception of "Steam Ingeneous" those are the songs I tend to repeat the most. The beginning of the album is pretty solid but I find the middle sort of loses its way a little, the last bit is what makes this a great album.

 

And still, after over a month of listening to this thing, I give it two fat fucking thumbs up.
