So Who Is Going To See Bob Dylan?

Recommended Posts

During the "time" it was basically him and the beatles that changed the face of mainstream rock and roll, adding meaningful lyrics to songs and pushing every boundary.

I mean, he didn't even give a shit what his fans thought...he wanted to go electric, so he went electric. Toured the world and got boo'd off the stage by all of his original folk fans.

I guess this is a stretch but I would compare that with Radiohead going Electronic on Kid A. It's all about artist growth in my opinion...but I'm going all over the place now.

I don't know who the greater mainstream artists were at the time, I don't think anyone topped these two.

Edit: So basically go see him before he kicks the bucket.

If Bob Dylan came out on stage and passed out it would still be better than the foo fighters.

People don't seem to realize just how influential Bob Dylan is and was.

so influence is far superior to shitty voice and the fact that he hasn't written a good album in god-knows-how-long?

i like bob dylan's songs coverred by other people. same goes for leonard cohen.

Well, why do you think he has so much influence? I don't really get what you mean, just sounds like you are going for a cheap shot on a unique voice. Better than hearing the same old sound.

I hate people who only listen to something because it's "influencial".

As much as the Foo Fighters suck right now, they would be a hell lot more entertaining (in a non-acoustic set) to see in concert over Bob Dylan.

I don't hate anyone really.

Like I said, why do you think these artists are influential? Maybe there is a bigger picture here...

Stuff is usually influential because it's good. Given, at this point if you are seeing Bob Dylan it's probably just to see Bob Dylan; I doubt many people will be singing along with the Modern Times material.

However, if you doubt Dylan, you probably haven't listened enough. From what I've heard, this band he is playing with is really tight, so I would expect the show to be pretty good.

At the ACC?

Why the foo-fighters are opening is beyond me. A man that changed music supported by a few chumps that wrote some catchy tunes once.

Either way, it should be good.

they're one one of the biggest rock acts around, fronted by a guy who was in a band that changed music as much as or more than anyone else in our generation. their folk influence and acoustic catalogue should do well opening for dylan. it's a nice blend of old and new, I think
