Ask Geoff ( Memorial Thread )

Recommended Posts

I can dig that, I've been very reluctant to enlist anyone on my current project...I've been working with a guitarist, mainly to help shape the parts and teach them to me. Ultimately, I want to do it all by myself, and then get a band to play it.

You have good taste in spirits, my good man.

If you don't mind my asking, what genre or style are you working in?

Sounds positively gritty. I kind of pictured you going kind of Butthole Surfer/Primus like...

The first and only finished track I have...is very hard rock. Very bass driven. Whether it's me playing it or someone else, the bassist get's to rock out. I was inspired a bit by some of your playing. I have a rough demo, of a friend and I, on acoustic guitar and bass. The other two songs that are almost done, are in the same vein. My friend says it sounds like Megadeth being performed by Fuel.

Wives are always right, Geoff...I can't believe I'm considering going back down that road again.

On those MGB albums did you all contribute to the backing vocals, or were they mixes of Matt's voice, layered? Like Geddy Lee does with his vocals.

At that time I couldn't sing too well. I think Ian threw some down but as I've said before,I put my parts down and they never saw my ass in the studio again.

Right now more of a roots thing. Mostly solo 'cause I'm such a fucking asshole band Nazi that no one wants to be in my band.

And BTW...if I'm gonna buck up the big bucks on booze..Highland Park 18.

Ah...Highland Park. Lovely bottle. My old boss gave me a bottle for Christmas...1989...

Okay, I've liked Matt Good for a long time but my boyfriend really adores the band but hasn't been able to get any of the early recordings yet.

Are the only ones available the 6 in the store?

Any info on how to get any more demos or recordings would be awesome.

Thanks,

Liz

News flash: Lisafurr and I are moving back to Ottawa in the spring. We're pretty much sick of Vancouver. It's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Well from what I read on his blog (unless I misread) he's buying a house in the suburbs because he's sick of vancouver.

After having our 5 string vs 4 string mini-discussion, I was wondering, what basses, amps and effects (if any!) did you use during your MGB time?
